Exactly What You Need!

BLOCK Time, our popular play and learn program, is designed and licensed for children 16 months to 5 years.

By pre-paying for a 4-11 week session, you’re guaranteed the same slot every week, same day and time. Now you can enjoy time for yourself, knowing your child is safe, learning and having fun!

Spanish ‘Round the World

The play-based curriculum is individualized for each child’s age and taught by a licensed early childhood teacher. Families unable to commit to a full year in Peppermint Fence Preschool find this to be a great alternative for their 2–5 year old.

Senora McCartney’s preschool Spanish series is the perfect way to kick off your child’s summer adventures. Every day in class we’ll “travel” to a different Spanish speaking country to discover its foods, culture, dance, crafts, animals, and most of all, language.

We’ll sing songs in Spanish, dance, play a game and make crafts— building children’s Spanish vocabulary along the way. Each day there will be a special snack, including some ethnic treats made during class. This class fills quickly!

Fees will be prorated.

There are no refunds for missed days. A $50 cancellation fee applies before a session begins.

There are no refunds after it starts.

A one-time annual, non-refundable registration fee of $75 per family is required when registering for either Peppermint Fence Preschool or any BLOCK Time, but not both.

Siblings PLUS Siblings PLUS is a program of Peppermint Fence PLUS. This exceptional, accredited program is available to siblings of children enrolled in a daytime ECFE class. Infant siblings under 4 months of age may stay with their parent in an ECFE class or in Siblings PLUS. If your baby is over 4 months, or will turn 4 months during the class series, you will need to register for Siblings PLUS or find other child care whenever they reach that age.

Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE) is unique to Minnesota. This nationally celebrated model supports the essential role of parents as their birth- to fiveyear-old children’s first and most important teachers. ECFE programs require degreed, licensed early childhood teachers and parent educators. Our ECFE is typical of Wayzata Schools, a model of excellence and among the very best in Minnesota. Baby Steps: 0-12 Months What does your baby need from you? What do YOU need for yourself?

Start out on the right foot! Discover new ways to support and enjoy your baby, engage with other moms and dads, and build on your strengths. Playtime and “nesting” with your infant will be followed by parent discussion and the best available information and support from our experienced, licensed parent educators. Your baby will stay with you. Whether this is your first or fifth child, your baby is unique and special, and so is this time in your life.

Busy Ones (12-24 Months) With so many parents in the daytime work force, this class fills quickly. Time with their toddlers is short and precious, so parents and staff decide together if or when they will separate for parent-only time. Parent/child play and parent learning and sharing are guided by a licensed parent educator and early childhood teacher. Toddlers can make it until 7:30 p.m. one night a week, and they love class as much as their parents. It’s the best of both worlds!

E101: Full-Year Class Thursdays, 6-7:30 p.m.

Kids on the Go (24+ Months) Bring your 2- to 5-year-old to “night school” for the same fun and learning as our day classes. After special parent/child activities, projects, and fun together at circle time, you’ll leave your child with his/her new friends and awesome teachers as he/she learns through play activities. Meanwhile, parent group discussion will cover whatever information and guidance you need now, such as stress management, routines, siblings, behavior, and social/emotional growth. Couples, individuals, and single parents are all welcome!

Peppermint Fence Preschool

Excellence for the Whole Child Kindergarten Readiness • Your child will grow and achieve academically, emotionally, socially, and physically toward kindergarten readiness.

• Your preschooler will have fun! Play is the “work” of children, so our research-based curriculum focuses on learning through play.

Wayzata Public Schools • We are Wayzata Public Schools’ only licensed, internationally accredited preschool.

We have full access to the district’s resources.

• We actively partner with Wayzata Early Childhood Special Education in all our classes.

Some classes are team taught with an ECSE teacher.

Parent Education and Support

Every year, Peppermint Fence is awarded four stars—the highest possible score—from Parent Aware, Minnesota’ rigorous assessment tool for early childhood care and education. Peppermint Fence is also accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC.org), the international gold standard of excellence. Visit us and see for yourself why we’ve achieved these highly prized recognitions.

Peppermint Fence begins the week of Tuesday, September 2, 2014, with conferences for you, your child, and the teacher. You’ll meet together in a relaxed setting, allowing your child to explore the new classroom. Your conference day and time will be sent to you in August. Actual preschool classes begin the week of September 8. Parent/teacher conferences are also held in November 2014 and March 2015.

New this year: Peppermint Fence classes are extended until June 6, 2015. That is four more weeks of preschool! If you are not able to commit for the full 34 weeks, we suggest you choose a session of BLOCK Time (see page 3).

Spanish Enrichment Classes We offer full-year Spanish enrichment classes for children 3–4 years old! Your child is learning while having fun! See page 7 for information on registration, deposits, and fees.

• If your child is not yet potty trained, we will work with you. All children are welcome here.

• Two PLUS classes include a weekly parent/ child play day, plus adult-only time for parent education and support.

Safety and Health • Safety is our top priority.

• We are a peanut-aware facility.

• Nutritious snacks are provided daily at no charge.

Extended Day! Expand your child’s Peppermint Fence learning experiences through our Extended Day curriculum. Extended Day is available for 36+ month-olds, 8–9:15 a.m. and 11:15 a.m.–3:30 p.m. on your child’s preschool days. Cost is $8.50 per hour when you sign up at least 24 hours in advance, $9.00 per hour for same-day sign up (space permitting). Our Kindergarten Readiness program teaches to the whole child, and is the only program directly coordinated with Wayzata Public Schools’ kindergarten curriculum. Your 4-year-old will have Spanish instruction every week!
