This comprehension-based reader is based on 104 high frequency words in Spanish. It contains a manageable amount of vocabulary and numerous cognates (words that are similar in two languages), making it an ideal first read for beginning language students.

There are two versions of this book under one cover. The past tense version is narrated in the past with dialogue in the appropriate tense. The present tense version is narrated in present tense with dialogue in the appropriate tense.

All vocabulary is listed in the glossary at the end of each version. Additionally, cultural phrases, lower frequency words, and any vocabulary that would be considered beyond a Novice Low level are footnoted at the bottom of the page where each first appears.
