Yes, this bonus edition is one big Spectator.
As we told you last week, we typically do not publish an edition the week of Thanksgiving. But we did so anyway so we could honor our public notice clients — and give Photography Director Casey Mozingo an opportunity to showcase her work.
FROM THE EDITOR'S DESK
We could have followed our tradition and published nothing at all this week. It would have saved us money and, more importantly, time.
But, as we have said from the beginning of this newspaper journey, we consider every one of the services Wayne Week provides to be as valuable as the others.
So, we decided to give our advertising clients an extra week of exposure — and ensure our legal notice customers could wrap up their business in as timely a manner as possible.
We decided to honor the hard work of our Photography Director, Casey Mozingo — a member of our team who does not always get as much space on our pages as she deserves.
And we decided to put more faces in the paper — some of them from communities and organizations that, in our view, often go under-covered.
Sure, the Miss Goldsboro Pageant is always going to get plenty of press.
So, too, will Downtown Lights Up.
But publishing this bonus edition also gave us a chance to feature Seven Springs — and, on our cover, a group of bikers who ensure, each November, that needy children would not want for a Christmas.
Next week, we will get back to the grind of covering the rest of Wayne County.
And we can tell you for sure that there will be plenty to read about — particularly as it relates to the filing period that opens Monday for a number of 2026 contests.
We look forward to seeing all of you then, and hope, like us, you had a restful and memorable Thanksgiving.
