The Yellow Jacket Summit: Growing in Mission and Community

The Nursing Department
Nursing will be hosting an open house for anyone interested in any of our pathways (Traditional BSN, Second Degree Accelerated BSN, LPN-to-BSN). It will be on July 1 on the first floor of Stewart Science Hall (Nursing Clinical Learning Center) between 4 pm. and 6pm.
The Rain Day Festival will again be held in the parks on July 29. We have received notice from the festival’s planning commission that Wayne Street will be CLOSED from Tuesday, July 28 through Thursday, July 30 for setups. Wayne Street and College Street will be fully closed at Morris Street eastward and Washington Street will be fully closed at Franklin Street northward on July 29 for Rain Day
What this means for you as
- There will be no access to parking in any of the lots within this boundary (SWEP – T, Goodwin, etc ) ALL FACULTY/STAFF are asked to park in the university’s perimeter lots (Gym, Miller, GPAC, Denny/ Chapel, etc ) Please do NOT park in the visitor spots in Miller Lot, as these are reserved for prospective families who may be visiting campus
- ALL CAMPUS BUILDINGS will be fully LOCKED and remain locked ALL DAY on Rain Day This policy is for the safety and security of university property and university employees.
- It is imperative that office staff work together. Those who have keys to their buildings should assist those who do not in gaining access to their buildings as you come and go throughout the day. The Department of Public Safety will be very busy doing rounds and monitoring the campus for safety purposes with such a large crowd. They will not be able to meet faculty or staff at buildings to grant access.
Please do not grant access to any university property to anyone not employed by WU with reason to be on campus that day This is a safety and security request

Greene County Drive-Up Food Distribution
The monthly event provides hundreds of individuals and families with at least 50lbs of food in pre-packaged boxes as well as fresh produce, bread, and other items from Sam's Club As a volunteer, you will assist with loading vehicles with food boxes, directing traffic, registering vehicles, and more Greene County Fairgrounds from 10:00 am-12:30 pm: July 23 and August 27
The Food Bank could also use assistance with pre-packing dry goods for the food boxes This is done on the Wednesday prior from 9 am-12 pm at the Greene County Fairgrounds: July 22 and August 26

Volunteers will be assigned to various tasks to help Greene County children gear-up for back-to-school!
Please check with your direct supervisor prior to signing-up to volunteer to ensure your respective office has coverage during that time
Service Release Time from regular work hours will be limited to a maximum of four hours per month or a total of five days per calendar year and will only be granted for projects sponsored or endorsed by Waynesburg University Service Release time may only be taken in half or whole day increments
Following are the procedures to be observed when applying for Service Project Release Time:
• A Time Off Request from regular work hours, must be submitted via the ADP payroll/timekeeping system The Service Release Time indicator, on the Time Off Request, should be selected when submitting the request
• The administrative staff member must have their Service Release Time request approved in the ADP system, by their immediate supervisor, prior to the requested date/time, so that primary responsibilities of the administrative staff member will be maintained for the efficient operation of the office/department
• The immediate supervisor of the administrative staff member is responsible for monitoring an employees’ Service Release Time usage and ensuring that it meets all policy requirements
• Union employees can volunteer if they utilize personal or vacation time
