+ Please stand as you are able.

Prelude | John Grecia, organ

Andante Religioso

+ Call to Worship

God, who rules the universe, calls us; Christ, who took up his cross, calls us; Holy Spirit, who frees us body and soul, calls us. Let’s faithfully answer by worshipping the triune God.

Henry Thomas Smart (1813-1879)

+ Hymn 393: ES FLOG EIN KLEINS

O Day of Rest and Gladness

+ Call to Confession

+ Prayer of Confession

Gracious God, you know what kind of people we are. We judge others harshly and fail to see our own sin. We look with suspicion and fear, and neglect to show hospitality to strangers. We treasure things that are worthless and squander your precious gifts. We withhold the grace and love that you freely give to us. Forgive us. Pour out your grace upon us to save us from our sin. Amen.

+ Declaration of Forgiveness

Jesus said to the one who had sinned much, “Your sins are forgiven.” The cross of Christ stands as the sign that the love of God lives in us through faith in the grace of God. In the power of Christ’s Spirit I say to you, your sins are forgiven. Thanks be to God.

+ Response of Praise: Hymn 581

GLORIA PATRI

+ Passing of the Peace

The peace of Christ be with you. And also with you.

Thy Will Be Done (1928)

William Howe Ruebush (1873-1957)

My God and Father , day by day, far from my home in life’s rough way, O , teach me from my heart to say, “Thy will be done.” Though dark my path and sad my lot , let me be still and murmur not , or breathe the prayer divinely taught, “Thy will be done.” What though in lonely grief I sigh for friends beloved , no longer nigh; Submissive still would I reply, “Thy will be done.” Renew my will from day to day, blend it with Thine , and take away all that now makes it hard to say, “Thy will be done.” Then when on earth I breathe no more the prayer oft-mixedn with tears before , I'll sing upon a happier shore , "Thy will be done." - Charlotte Elliot (1789-1871)

Sermon | “Working Together?” | The Rev. Ryan Balsan

Time for Reflection

+ Affirmation of Faith | The Nicene’ Creed

We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen. We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father; through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven, was incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary and became truly human. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end.We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is worshiped and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets. We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.

Offertory Anthem

A Covenant Prayer Dan Forrest (b. 1978) I am no longer my own , but thine. Put me to what thou wilt , rank me with whom thou wilt. Put me to doing, put me to suffering. Let me be employed for thee or laid aside for thee , exalted for thee or brought low for thee. Let me be full , let me be empty. Let me have all things, let me have nothing. I freely and heartily yield all things to thy pleasure and disposal. And now , O glorious and blessed God , Father , Son , and Holy Spirit, thou art mine , and I am thine. So be it. And the covenant which I have made on earth , let it be ratified in heaven. Amen. - John Wesley (1703-1791)

ITEMS COLLECTED YARDS RUSHED

OUR GOAL | To donate more food items than the Eagles rush for yards this season.

WHY? | With recent reductions of food assistance, food scarcity and the need for support is bigger than ever right now.

HOW DO I HELP? | Starting now, and for the entirety of football season, bring non-perishable, non-expired goods to WPC and drop them in our containers at the front and back of the Sanctuary, or in the Connector.

WHAT TO DONATE | Some of the most requested items by our local food cupboards are: cereal, canned tuna, pasta, pasta sauce, and granola bars, though all non-perishable goods are welcome. Please be mindful not to donate expired items, or items that will expire within 30 days of donating. If you donate a bag of items, please write the number of goods included on the outside of the bag to help out our volunteers. Interested in volunteering to count and/or deliver our weekly collection? Please contact Jean Kozicki at: jeankozicki@gmail.com.
