Prelude | John Grecia, organ

Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750) Sinfonia to Cantata BWV 106

+ Call to Worship

O come, let us sing to the Lord and shout with joy to the rock of our salvation! Let us come into God’s presence with thanksgiving, singing joyful songs of praise.

+ Hymn: HOW CAN I KEEP FROM SINGING My Life Flows On

+ Call to Confession

+ Prayer of Confession

Eternal God, our judge and redeemer, we confess that we have tried to hide from you, for we have done wrong. We have lived for ourselves, and apart from you, We have turned from our neighbors, and refused to bear the burdens of others. We have ignored the pain of the world, and passed by the hungry, the poor, and the oppressed. In your great mercy forgive our sins and free us from selfishness, that we may choose your will and obey your commandments; through Jesus Christ our Savior. Amen.

+ Declaration of Forgiveness

If we have died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him. Therefore, consider yourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus. In the name of Jesus Christ, we are forgiven. Thanks be to God.

+ Response of Praise: What Wondrous Love is This (Verse 3)

+ Passing of the Peace

The peace of Christ be with you. And also with you.

Time for Reflection

Affirmation of Faith | The Nicene Creed

I believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible. I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages. God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father; through him all things were made. For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven, and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he suffered death and was buried, and rose again on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets.

I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church. I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen.

O Love Elaine Hagenberg (b. 1979)

O Love , that will not let me go, I rest my weary soul in Thee; I give thee back the life I owe , that in thy ocean depths its flow may richer , fuller be. O Joy, that seeks me through the pain, I cannot close my heart to thee; I trace the rainbow through the rain , and feel the promise is not vain that morn shall tearless be. – George Matheson (18421906)
