PLANNING GUIDE

Planning a memorial service is a meaningful way to honor and celebrate the life of a loved one. At Wayne Presbyterian, we offer guidance and support to help you create a service that reflects their faith, values, and cherished memories. When planning, you may wish to consider elements such as scripture readings, hymns, special music, personal tributes, and the overall tone of the gathering. We are here to assist you in making this time of remembrance both comforting and uplifting

RECEPTIONS

Our church offers several reception options to accommodate families and guests following a memorial service Whether you prefer a fully catered meal or a simpler gathering, we are here to assist in creating a meaningful time of fellowship Please note that the church does not cover the cost of fully catered events, and all fully catered receptions are subject to church approval.

Level

1:

Fully Catered with Deacon Host*

A professional caterer provides a full lunch, desserts, and drinks. Deacons serve as hosts, providing coffee and tea.

Level 2: Partially Catered*

A caterer provides a light lunch (wraps, sandwiches, salad), while deacons provide desserts, cold drinks, coffee, tea, lemonade, and iced tea.

Level 3: No Caterer, Small Reception

Deacons provide desserts, cold drinks, coffee, and tea for a modest gathering.

Level 4: Deacons-Only Reception

Deacons provide a limited reception with tea sandwiches, desserts, a veggie tray, fruit salad, cold drinks, coffee, and tea (Please note there is a guest capacity limit for this option)

BULLETINS

Our church offers customized funeral bulletins to guide guests through the memorial service and serve as a keepsake in remembrance of your loved one. Bulletins can include the order of service, scripture readings, hymns, and a brief tribute. Our team is available to assist in designing and printing the bulletin to reflect the meaningful elements of the service Please contact the church office for more details and to arrange for bulletin preparation.

No charge for members

FLOWERS

The church is not responsible for ordering flower arrangements. Those wishing to pay their respects may order flowers from a florist of their choice. Arrangements may be delivered to the church on the morning of the service or one day prior to the scheduled service date. To ensure receipt, deliveries should be made during church office hours: Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM

MUSIC

Music plays a meaningful role in a memorial service, offering comfort, reflection, and a way to honor a loved one's life and faith. Our church can arrange for an organist, soloist, or quartet to perform selections that hold special significance to your family Whether through hymns, instrumental pieces, or sacred songs, music can help create a heartfelt and uplifting service If you would like assistance in selecting music or arranging musicians, we are happy to help guide you through the process. LIVESTREAM

For those unable to attend in person, we offer the option to livestream the memorial service. This allows family and friends near and far to join in remembrance and support, no matter where they are Our team will handle the setup to ensure a smooth and respectful broadcast. Livestreams can be public or private and archived on our YouTube channel or zipdrive.

SLIDESHOWS

A photo slideshow is a meaningful way to honor a loved one by sharing treasured memories with family and friends Our church provides the option to display the slideshow before, during, and after the memorial service in the Connector, as well as in the chapel during the reception. Families may submit a completed slideshow for display, or our team can create one using selected photos provided by the family To ensure a seamless presentation, all materials should be submitted in advance. We are happy to assist with setup and provide technical details as needed.
