ORDER OF WORSHIP
Sunday, August 3, 2025
8th Sunday after Pentecost
Prelude | John Grecia, organ
Dennis Janzer (b. 1954) Meditation on "My Lord What a Morning"
+ Call to Worship
Show us your steadfast love, O Lord, and grant us your salvation. The Lord will speak peace to the faithful, to those who turn to God in their hearts. Surely salvation is at hand for those who fear the Lord, and God’s glory will dwell in our land.
+ Hymn: REVIVE US AGAIN We Praise Thee , O God + Please stand as you are able.
+ Call to Confession
+ Prayer of Confession
Holy One, although we come to church on Sundays, we too often live the rest of the week as though you don’t exist. We act as if we created ourselves, with no connection to you, with no hope of transcendence.
Open us to your constant presence, O God. Teach us to pray, and restore us, so that we might walk with you, following your way and living by your promises. Through Jesus Christ we pray. Amen.
+ Declaration of Forgiveness
Hear this from God’s Word: Neither death nor life, powers nor rulers, things present nor things to come, nor anything else in all creation can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. Know that in Jesus Christ, we are forgiven. Thanks be to God!
+ Response of Praise: Hymn 581
GLORIA PATRI
+ Passing of the Peace
The peace of Christ be with you. And also with you.

Steal Away Wallis Willis (1820-1880) | Setting: S. W. Branton & G. Lukin
Steal away, steal away, steal away to Jesus. Steal away, steal away home , I ain’t got long to stay here. My lord calls me , he calls me by the thunder , the trumpet sounds within my soul , I ain’t got long to stay here. Green trees are bending, poor sinner stands a-trembling; the trumpet sounds within my soul , I ain’t got long to stay here.
Sermon | “What? Me, Worry?” | The Rev. Ryan Balsan
Time for Reflection
Affirmation
of Faith | The Apostles’ Creed
I believe in God, the Father almighty, Creator of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried; he descended into hell; on the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty; from there he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.

Offertory Anthem | Summer Chancel Choir | David Price, tenor
He Never Failed Me Yet Robert Ray (1946-2022)
I will sing of God’s mercy, every day, every hour , he gives me power. I will sing and give thanks to thee for all the dangers, toils and snares that he has brought me out. He is my God and I’ll serve him , no matter what the test. Trust and never doubt , Jesus will surely bring you out , he never failed me yet. I know God is able to deliver in time of storm. And I know that he’ll keep you safe from all earthly harm. One day when my weary soul is at rest , I’m going home to be forever blessed. Trust and never doubt , Jesus will surely bring you out , He never failed me yet. Didn’t my God deliver Moses from King Pharaoh? And didn’t he cool the fiery furnace For Shadrach , Meshach , and Abednego? When I think of what my God can do , he delivered Daniel , I know he will deliver you. Trust and never doubt , Jesus will surely bring you out , he never failed me yet.
