Prelude | John Grecia, organ Hymn

Words of Welcome

+ Call to Worship

Come, O children, to listen. We will be taught the fear of the Lord. Depart from evil and do good. We will seek peace and pursue it.

Fourteenth Sunday of

Karl Jenkins (b. 1944)

+ Hymn 846: DUKE STREET Fight the Good Fight

+ Call to Confession

+ Prayer of Confession

Merciful God, we confess that we have not been faithful children. We have not lived by your law; we have remained silent in the face of evil; we have not refrained from deceit. We have not followed the way of peace; and we have not honored all that is true and good. We have been foolish and immature people who resist the holy wisdom you graciously offer. Forgive us our sin, O God, and lead us to sincere repentance through Jesus Christ. Amen.

+ Declaration of Forgiveness

+ Please stand as you are able. Friends, believe the Good News of the Gospel. In Jesus Christ we are forgiven.

+ Response of Praise: Hymn 581 GLORIA PATRI

+ Passing of the Peace

The peace of Christ be with you. And also with you.

Prayer for Illumination

Scripture Reading | John 6:56-59

+ Hymn 839: ASSURANCE Blessed Assurance, Jesus is Mine!

Scripture Reading | Joshua 24:1-2a, 14-18

Quartet Anthem Robert Jackson (1842-1914)

Breathe on Me, Breath of God

Arr. Kenneth Wilson (1924-2012)

Sermon | Rev. Andy Greenhow | “Who You Gonna Believe?”

Time for Reflection

Affirmation of Faith | 1 Cor. 15:1–6; Mark 16:1–9; Matt. 16:16; Rev. 22:13; John 20:28

This is the good news which we have received, in which we stand, and by which we are saved, if we hold it fast: that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day, and that he appeared first to the women, then to Peter, and to the Twelve, and then to many faithful witnesses. We believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God. Jesus Christ is the first and the last, the beginning and the end; he is our Lord and our God. Amen.
