+ Call to Worship
Sondra K. Tucker (b. 1957)
Early on the first day of the week the disciples of Jesus went to the tomb where he had been buried only to find that the stone had been rolled away and the tomb was empty. Friends, we gather here as Christ’s disciples on the first day of the week, to celebrate the good news of the gospel: Jesus Christ has risen from the dead.
Rejoice and be glad:
This is the day that the Lord has made!
Rejoice and be glad: Heaven and earth will never be the same!
Rejoice and be glad: Christ is risen! Alleluia!
+ Hymn 232: EASTER HYMN Jesus Christ is Risen Today
+ Call to Confession
+ Prayer of Confession
Gracious God, we have heard the good news: how on the third day, Christ rose again. Still we look for the living among the dead. You rolled away the stone from the tomb. Still we look for the living among the dead. You sent messengers to proclaim the gospel. Still we look for the living among the dead.
You were faithful to your promise; you have done wonderful things! Still we look for the living among the dead.
SILENT CONFESSION
Forgive us, Lord, we pray. Teach us to trust your promise and to believe the good news of salvation: Christ is alive; Jesus is risen from the dead.
+ Declaration of Forgiveness
When Christ comes to reign, he will put an end to every ruler, every power, every authority. He will put every enemy under his feet and the last enemy to be destroyed is death.
As we await that great and glorious day, we rejoice in the good news of the gospel. In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven. Thanks be to God!
+ Response of Praise - Hymn 236 (v. 1): The Strife is O’er
VICTORY

+ Passing of the Peace
The peace of Christ be with you. And also with you.

Alleluia , Christus Surrexit Felice Anerio (1560-1614)
Alleluia! Christ has risen from the dead , an offering for those who sleep. Alleluia! As with mankind death , so with mankind the resurrection of the dead. Alleluia! For as in Adam all die , in Christ shall all be made alive. He died for the sake of our sins , and he arose again for the sake of our redemption: therefore , let us eat the unleavened bread of purity and of truth. Alleluia!
Time for Reflection
Litany for Easter
This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it. Alleluia! The Lord is risen indeed!
This is the good news we have received, in which we stand, and by which we are saved: Alleluia! The Lord is risen indeed!
That Christ died for our sins, and was buried, and rose again on the third day. Alleluia! The Lord is risen indeed!
He appeared to Peter, and to the twelve, and to many faithful witnesses. Alleluia! The Lord is risen indeed!
At last he came to us, that we might come to believe and proclaim this good news to the world. Alleluia! The Lord is risen indeed!
SILENCE
O God, you gave your only Son to suffer death on a cross for our redemption, and by his glorious resurrection you delivered us from the power of death. Grant us so to die daily to sin, that we may live with him in the joy of his resurrection’ through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives an reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.
