+ Call to Worship
They took branches of palm trees and went out to meet him, With praises, we you adore you, Jesus our King. They shouted, “Hosannah! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!” Lord, enter our hearts as you entered Jerusalem and lead us by faith in the way everlasting.
+ Processional Hymn 196: VALET WILL ICH DIR GEBEN All Glory, Laud and Honor
+ Call to Confession
+ Prayer of Confession
Holy God, we often don’t know what to make of Palm Sunday. Is this a day of celebration or sorrow? After all, we confess that we are the same people who sing your praises and glory, but also reject you again and again. We confess that we would rather be lord of our own lives than accept that you are the Lord and Savior of all. We are not humble, nor do we serve you faithfully. We deny you by our words and actions, as well as in our hearts. Have mercy on us, our Lord and King. Help us to lay the burdens we carry down at your feet. Draw us back to you, help us to follow where you lead, and steer onto the righteous path that you would have us walk together. In the name of Christ our Lord, we pray. Amen.
+ Declaration of Forgiveness
Friends, God hears you. God is gracious and abounding in steadfast love, stepping toward us always with love and mercy. Believe the Good News of the Gospel. In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven.
+ Response of Praise: What Wondrous Love is This (Verse 1)
WONDROUS LOVE

+ Passing of the Peace
The peace of Christ be with you. And also with you.

Hosanna to the Son of David Orlando Gibbons (1583-1625)
Hosanna to the Son of David: blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord. Blessed be the King of Israel; blessed be the Kingdom that cometh in the name of the Lord: peace in heaven , and glory in the highest places; Hosanna in the highest heavens.
Sermon | “Alone in a Crowd” | The Rev. Katy Shevel
Time for Reflection
Affirmation of Faith | The Confession of 1967 (Part 9.08)
In Jesus of Nazareth, true humanity was realized once for all. Jesus, a Palestinian Jew, lived among his own people and shared their needs, temptations, joys, and sorrows. He expressed the love of God in word and deed and became a brother to all kinds of sinful men and women. But his complete obedience led him into conflict with his people. His life and teaching judged their goodness, religious aspirations, and national hopes. Many rejected him and demanded his death. In giving himself freely for them, he took upon himself the judgment under which everyone stands convicted. God raised him from the dead, vindicating him as Messiah and Lord. The victim of sin became victor, and won the victory over sin and death for all.

Offertory Anthem | My Song is Love Unknown
9:30AM - Chancel Choir + Westminster Youth Choir
11:00AM - Quartet + Choral Scholars
Rev. Katy Shevel, flute

Karen Marrolli (2024)
My song is love unknown – my Savior’s love to me; love to the loveless shown , that they might lovely be. Oh , who am I , that for my sake – my Lord should take frail flesh and die? He came from his blest throne salvation to bestow , but such disdain! So few the longed-for Christ would know! But oh , my friend , my friend indeed , who at my need his life did spend. Sometimes they crowd his way, and his sweet praises sing; resounding all the day hosannas to their King. Then “Crucify” is all their breath , and for his death they thirst and cry. In life , no house , no home my Lord on earth might have; in death , no friendly tomb but what a stranger gave. What may I say? Heav’n was his home; but mine the tomb wherein he lay. Here might I stay and sing; no story so divine! Never was love , dear King, never was grief like thine. This is my friend , in whose sweet praise I all my days could gladly spend!
