“The earth is the Lord’s and all that is in it.” Psalm 24:1
Worship is at the heart of what we do as Christians.
We gather every Sunday to listen for a word from God in worship, prayer, preaching, liturgy, sacraments, song and learning what God is doing in the world and in our lives. The pastors, staff, soloists, musicians, technicians and volunteers help us experience God in profound ways Our choirs enable singers and bell ringers of all ages and skill levels to glorify and experience God through music Our staff works behind the scenes to ensure beautiful Sunday services in person and online. Worship volunteers – greeters, ushers, stewards, liturgists, and instrumentalists – help us connect with each other and with God. Outside Sunday worship, the Wayne Oratorio Society spreads the gospel of Christ through major sacred choral works. We host weddings and funerals for members of the church and community. It all takes place in our majestic and historic sanctuary. Approximately 39% of our projected 2025 budget will support these faithbuilding and awe-inspiring worship and music experiences that glorify and bring people to God.
We carry each other's burdens and welcome others as Christ welcomed us.
We CARE for our members and community through many important programs. When members are in need, our pastors are there, providing the comfort of Christ’s presence and promise to those who are lonely, suffering, or grieving They plan and officiate services that welcome and comfort loved ones as they remember and honor those they have lost. Our 44 Deacons offer year-round assistance to our members and community, staying connected through calls, visits, meals, rides, and prayers They organize Christmas and Easter drives, deliver meals and gifts, host receptions and blood drives, provide school supplies, and run the Career Networking Program. We CONNECT through ministries, fellowship and outreach efforts that welcome others and foster warm, caring relationships. We provide fellowship programs for all ages, offering diverse opportunities to connect and strengthen our community From new-member events and all-church meals to small groups, retreats, Youth Group, and coffee hours, each gathering fosters engagement and relationship-building. Our outreach and discipleship programs help those in need know our church is open to them. About 18% of our 2025 budget will fund these Care & Connect ministries.
Our legacy as a mission-focused church continues with your help.
Our church is known for putting our faith into action. We live out this mission by generously offering our tithes and talents to various community and global partners Locally, we support neighbors facing homelessness and food insecurity by donating items sorely needed in our local and urban communities, which include immigrants and refugees. Food, clothing, tutoring, workforce development, and senior services are primary. We also contribute meals, childcare support, scholarships, school supplies, and music education for children in underresourced communities. Globally, we support partners that provide Christian education and training to ministers and missionaries, clean water, and healthcare in Egypt, Iraq, India, Kenya, Liberia, and Guatemala. Through justice advocacy, we raise our moral voice to challenge hunger, poverty, gun violence, racism, ecological degradation, and education. As a certified PC(USA) Earth Care congregation, we educate members about sustainability and integrate sustainable practices into our church life. As a certified PC(USA) Hunger Action Congregation, we work to shorten food lines and feed the needy. WPC provides meeting spaces for vital community groups. We commit to donating at least 10% of our contributions to mission partners, and additional donations expand our impact Our 2025 budget allocates about 20% of donated funds to Faith in Action programs and related support costs.
Building life-long faith is at the core of our mission to share the ministry of Jesus Christ.
Our staff and volunteers work together to provide an incredible variety of educational programs to help our community nurture faith at every stage of life Our learning opportunities are designed to be dynamic and interactive, responding to the evolving diversity of interests throughout the congregation. Our Children’s Ministries introduce our youngest to the awesome love of Christ and build faith and community Our Youth and Family programs provide a safe and nurturing community to help young people grapple with life’s questions and challenges The Adult Education programs include classes, speakers, discussions, retreats, spiritual direction, small groups, grief support, and other programs to enrich the faith of our members and the community. Our education building offers 33 classrooms and other spaces where faith formation takes place, and requires ongoing investment to clean and maintain. Our 2025 budget allocates approximately 23% of our funds to nurturing life-long faith.
We hope this mission-focused view of our budget shows how your dollars are used to carry out the church's vital work.
Please help sustain and grow our ministries with your generous pledge of support today.
