The new puritanism : part#1 : suppression of music and dancing :
how can a civilization at the end of the twentieth century enact legislation aimed at killing its peoples wishes to dance ? What kind of disgusting oppressive rulers would be offended by people dancing and being happy ? What difference really is there between this and the historical puritanism of centuries gone by, when dancing and revelry was forbidden by a corrupt church who were offended by people experiencing joy ? In the nineteen nineties the “criminal justice act” was introduced, a whopping dose of state fed poison aimed at laying to rest once and for all the prevalent youth-rave culture of the day. For the first time in the United Kingdoms history, laws took effect that meant people were to be arrested for no other reason than that they were intending to have a party. The obscene and negative significance of this cannot be overestimated. The rave scene had become strong by the early nineties a psychedelic bonding had come into existence, a new freedom, a new way, a positivity and happiness that didn’t even need alcohol that was deeply offensive to the powers that be. The whole rave scene, but particularly, the free-party scene brought a new vision that, left unchecked, would have been powerful enough to funnel out into the mainstream of society. The rave culture was also being suppressed about towns and cities in nightclubs. “sinister goons”, “bullies” – – call them what you will are quite normally bouncers. They often randomly manhandle people who are minding their own business and tell them forcefully to leave. Sometimes, they may suddenly attack such people from behind, putting them in an arm-lock, then roughly escorting them to the exit. When people are attacked like this, it is their natural inclination, perhaps uninhibited by alcohol, to become violent. In the times this writer has been in these establishments, he has witnessed this “security” behave like this many times both to himself and others. The combinationn of conciosness-reducing narcotic alcohol, and open, unprovoked provocation and deliberate causation ofviolencee by government sponsored thugs is a recipe for the opposite of relaxation. The opposite then, of leisure. At a psychedelicized free-party in a field, people will just relax and let go, cuddling and loving one another. In the situation described earlier, whether they are personally involved, or a bystander personally uninvolved, the general effect is to create an atmosphere where you cannot relax. People can't open up and just keep dancing, or cuddle, or be loved up. The less relaxation there is, the more violence there is, the more there appears to be a need for the “security” in this designed vicious circle. The more violence there is, the more crime there is also, thus keeping the police happy and apparently justifying their state. I'm not saying that all bouncers act in the fashion described earlier, but many of them do, and it is normal for them to. This writer even was employed for a very brief stint as security at a festival; here is an instruction from the pamphlet issued with the job: (STEWARDS SHOULD NEVER) show celebration or enjoyment of the event at which they are working. It is your official duty then to create as actual an aura of negativity around yourself as possible ? How are these words really to be interpreted ? What happened to smiling, friendly security ? They are ordered to be totally anti- the spirit of leisurely freedom of any true festival. We don’t need these people. They kill the vibe. Increasingly, the entire music scene is absolutely controlled and owned by the few elite players. “Hawkwind”, who sung of staying cool by being an urban guerilla, (“...gotta stay cool on the
