20 RIDE performs July 4th By Loretta Cozart America’s # 1 Zac Brown Tribute Band, 20 RIDE, will be performing on the Neisler Stage at ‘Red, White, and Boom’ at the Deal Park Track on July 4th. The first tribute of its kind, they are good enough to make Zac Brown’s tour manager Paul Chanon look twice. When he saw him, he said, “I had to do a double take... I thought it was really Zac.” This is not a wig wearing, lip syncing, pretending to play tribute. These are real players, making the

great music like Zac does at all his concerts. From traditional country, to Caribbean rhythm, to sultry ballads, 20 RIDE brings all the best Zac has to offer. There is something for everyone. Whether you love their mega hits like “Chicken Fried”, “Colder Weather”, “Free, “Toes”, “Highway 20 Ride” or many more, 20 RIDE will play all your favorites and some cool covers too. Comprised of good ol’ boys from upstate Carolina, these guys know how to entertain. They have a unique ability to include everyone

Liberty Mountain shines brightly By Loretta Cozart Friday, June 29th, ‘Liberty Mountain” opened for its fifth season at the Joy Performance Theater to a packed house. Patrons gathered in the lobby, buying T-shirts and commemorative programs before being shown to their seats. Folks gathered at the concession stand to buy soft drinks and converse with friends. Everyone was giddy with excitement in anticipation. Two young boys were introduced to playwright Bob

Inman, who greeted them warmly and shook their hands. This may be their first-time attending Liberty Mountain, or maybe just the first time they’ll remember. They’ll never forget how welcomed Bob Inman made them feel. Artist Thomas Kelly Pauly spoke with patrons and talked about his portraits on display at the theater this year. Six of the nine pieces are new portraits in his Kings Mountain Commander Series. Folks made their way through the crowd to greet him.

As we were seated, I couldn’t help but notice how nice the theater looked. The theater we knew in the 70’s is long gone. It is tastefully redone and is a proper showplace for performances in Kings Mountain. The preshow began with an ensemble signing traditional tunes to get us in the mood for the drama about to unfold. They welcomed patrons from Georgia, South Carolina, and Eastern North Carolina and recognized the veterans in attendance before singing “My Country See LIBERTY, Page 7A
