KMHS graduates awarded $3 million in scholarships By Loretta Cozart Kings Mountain High School Class of 2022 graduates were awarded $3,056,798 in scholarship money during the Senior Awards Night program held on Thursday, June 2. The three top scholarship award recipients were Junior Boakye - $172,000 from the RW Andrews Scholarship, Mark Petrilli - $80,000 as a Goodnight Scholar, and Cooper Putnam – $60,000 from NCSU
Centennial. Three Dover Foundation Scholarships were awarded: $20,000 to Jonah Patrick, $15,000 to Sally Ozmore, and $10,000 to Sage Wright. The $10,000 State Employees Credit Union Scholarship was awarded to Rachel Whitaker and the $8,000 Harry Clarke Memorial Scholarship went to Mark Allen. Taco Tuesday - Beef Our Community at 133 West By Loretta Cozart Downtown restaurant, 133 West selected Kings Mountain Gateway Trail as their sponsored nonprofit in the month of June for “Taco about Tuesday Beef Our Community.” Five percent of Tuesday sales for the month of June will be donated to the Gateway Trail. The restaurant is open 11 a.m. – 8 p.m. and looks forward to a great month supporting this Kings Mountain non-profit. 133 West is located at 133 West Mountain Street in downtown Kings Mountain. Due to Streetscape work, West Mountain Street is closed for construction. However, the Cherokee Street parking lot behind the restaurant is open with ample parking. A sidewalk leading from the parking lot provides easy access to the restaurant for dine-in or carryout. For more information, call 704-750-4100.

KMHM needs help with Toys, Games & Trains Exhibit The Kings Mountain Historical Museum needs your help! They are coming up on the 20th year for the Toys, Games & Trains Exhibit at the museum. This annual exhibit fills the museum with a model train display assembled by local “S” Gaugers, as well as railroad memorabilia, and antique toys and games. Train layout by Bill Ware.
