Dam repairs underway Scuba divers are working along with other workmen at Moss Lake this week continuing much needed repairs to Moss Lake Dam. Mayor Scott Neisler said the repair of the dam has now been expanded to filling in the 48 inch pipe

which was installed at the bottom of the dam while the dam was being built to allow a release of Buffalo Creek downstream. “The pipe is being modified so that it will not possibly leak in the future,’’ said the mayor.

Neisler added, “This project involves scuba divers, replacement of metal plates that plugged the pipe, removing permanent valves and installing temporary large valves to release water pressure as needed See REPAIRS 4A

At KMHM benefit Someone will be lucky at the 13th annual Reverse Raffle & Auctions to be hosted by the Kings Mountain Historical Museum Saturday, Sept. 10, beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the Patrick Senior Center. The Reverse Raffle is an exciting twist on a traditional raffle and a fabulous array of prizes will be presented for every fifth ticket drawn from a raffle barrel. The last ticket drawn at the end of the evening wins the grand prize of $10,000. Tickets are on sale at $125 at the Museum at 100 E. Mountain Street and includes a catered dinner for

two and a 1 in 300 chance of winning the grand prize. One in five ticket holders will win a r raffle prize, and the final five finale will include prizes increasing in value up to the grand prize as the last ticket is drawn. Ticket holders do not have to be present to win.

“We look forward to seeing you at the Patrick Senior Center this year for our event which also include live, silent and cake auctions and plenty of camaraderie and entertainment,’’ said event Chair Priscilla H. Mauney.

Students give to Polio fund East Elementary School fourth grade Early Act First Knight club members are learning how to serve humanity by raising funds for Polio Plus - Rotary International’s top philanthropic priority. When Rotary launched the Polio Plus program in

1985, there were more than 350,000 polio cases in over 125 countries. Today new polio cases are limited to only Pakistan and Afghanistan. The EAFK club is a sevice organization sponsored by the Kings Mountain Rotary club. Each year they

adopt a local and international service project, then plan a fundraiser to fund the projects. The $750 check this year from the fourth grade was raised at a recent talent show. See STUDENTS 4A
