NFL’s Action Not Acceptable By LORETTA HUSKY COZART
I am disappointed the National Football League stoapped airing the LORETTA COZART “Star Spangled Banner” as part of their pre-game show. Last Thursday evening I watched the Carolina Panther’s game on CBS. To my surprise, the game started without it. Surely, I just missed it. I made it a point to watch the opening of the Dolphin’s game on Sunday and paid close attention. To my dismay, they skipped
covering the National Anthem for that game too. It was sad: no flag, no flyover, no honoring our military. So, I found something better to do instead of watching the football game.
Recently, players began “taking a knee” instead of standing for the National Anthem after Colin Kaepernick sat or knelt during the anthem. In his words, he refused to "show pride in a

Post won’t televise NFL games now Legionnaires in Kings Mountain American Legion Post 155 voted unanimously last Thursday night not to televise any National Football League games at the American Legion Post until “football teams respect the National Anthem and stand, not kneel, when it is sung or played prior to the games.” Vice Commander Tom Shytle, a Korean War veteran, made the motion, seconded by Greg Carpenter. Both said Legionnaires need to take a stand on the issue opposing the disrespect of our anthem, flag and country. Post Commander Rick Moore, who presided, said that’’ many Legionnaires served in harm’s way fighting for our country and we honor our flag and our country.’’ The American Legion was in the forefront of establishing a flag code and founded the GI Bill which has paid for college educations for many veterans and has been expanded to include any serviceman or servicewoman who wants to go to back to school at any stage of their lives. The Kings Mountain Post is currently conducting a membership drive. Nationally, The American Legion has a membership of 2.4 million members.
