Gracie Plonk DAR Good Citizen Contributed by Robin Meyer In 2016, the Colonel Frederick Hambright Chapter celebrated their 100th anniversary. A big part of this celebration was to honor all the women who began their chapter, especially the Organizing Regent Ida Pauline Mauney Neisler. Mrs. Neisler was a re-
markable woman and very humble. Her headstone did not have a DAR Insignia, so the chapter decided to remedy that and honor her place in their DAR history. With the family’s permission and support the Insignia dedication was held on a VERY cold day in December of See PLONK, Page 7A
By Loretta Cozart Children’s Colonial Day is this Saturday, June 9th from 10AM-4PM at the Kings Mountain National Military Park. This is a great opportunity for kids, and adults alike, to experience for a day what life was like for American children in the 18th century,” says Ranger Leah Taber. Kids will have the chance to make their own colonial toy, play with colonial games, make their own cornhusk doll, learn the musket drill with wooden muskets, sign their militia oath with a quill pen and make it official with a wax seal, make their own tricorn hat, roll your own musket cartridge, and more. Activities will occur under the white canvas tents next to the Visitor Center.

These changes are effective immediately: • Plastic grocery bags will no longer be accepted.
• When you dispose of plastic and glass bottles please remove the lids and dispose of them in the regular trash. • Shredded paper should be placed in the can loose and not in any type of plastic bag. • Always put your recyclables in the Blue can without placing them in plastic bags. This allows the handler to see that there are no contaminates in the can.
