Elegantly blending classic lines and contemporary yacht design, this beautiful day sailer benefits from renowned yacht designer André Hoek’s touches and Wally founder Luca Bassani’s creative flair. Hoek is the master of the modern classic. A pilot cutter influenced plumb bow, lengthy sprit and low, squared coachroof set off her retro style, finished by an elegantly overhanging counter stern creating a long water line with a magnificent retro look. Additionally, she boasts a large open cockpit with integrated aft deck, creating a large sunbathing area, and the cabin top’s glass sides offer the inside-outside living concept. At Joop Doomernik’s well respected boatyard NOSTROMINO’s classic lines came to life with contemporary construction and renowned Dutch attention to detail. The story of NOSTROMINO began when Gstaad Yacht Club member Sir Andrew Cook asked Anthony Bannwart to find the perfect day sailer to enjoy on Lake Geneva, and to race in the Mediterranean. Sir Andrew Cook got the inspiration for this project after a cruise on his 100 foot long S Y NOSTROMO, a stylish and comfortable Ed Dubois design. After a cruise from Venice through the

Croatian islands, ending in Montenegro’s Kotor Bay, and after racing with NOSTROMO in two editions of the Barcolana in Trieste in fleets of 2,000 boats, Sir Andrew Cook wanted to build stronger bonds among a potential team in 2018, with Jesper Bank and Thomas Lundqvist on board. He turned to Anthony Bannwart to manage the project. Anthony Bannwart has sailing in his blood and creative DNA – his grandfather and father were the owners and designers of the iconic Swiss watch brand CORUM, which was famous during the ‘80s and ‘90s for their Admiral’s Cup watch among other bestsellers. Their Corum Sailing Team won the 1991 Admiral’s Cup in Cowes, sailing for France. This team included young sailors who became famous offshore stars, such as Thomas Coville. Anthony Bannwart is now an accomplished artist and member of the Gstaad Yacht Club thanks to the patronage of Sir Andrew Cook. After a period of research,

he identified the Wally Nano as the perfect solution to Sir Andrew Cook’s demanding request. Shortly after Sir Andrew Cook met Joop Doomernik at his yard in Holland, construction began on NOSTROMINO. After only seven months, the yacht was on the starting line for the 2019 Bol d’Or Mirabaud on Switzerland’s Lake Geneva. The Bol d’Or Mirabaud is the largest inland regatta in the world. Sailing under the burgee of the Gstaad Yacht Club, NOSTROMINO proved her seaworthiness in that first race, facing winds up to 50 knots that resulted in sixteen dismastings and three sinkings. At the 2020 Voiles de Saint Tropez, boat captain Anthony Bannwart crewed and Danish double Olympic gold medallist Jesper Bank skippered NOSTROMINO to win their class under the IRC rule. This year NOSTROMINO started the season at the Palma Vela regatta, before returning to Lake Geneva for the Bol d’Or. Extremely light conditions on the lake made the 2022 Bol d’Or an extreme tactical challenge, but the captain and his lake crew managed the round trip under 20 hours, finishing respectably among the top monohulls and not far behind the foiling multihull ALINGHI. The Société Nautique de Genève recently hosted the 8 metre class world championships under sunny skies with perfect winds. The fleet of 26 classics included SIRA (1938), helmed by her owner, King Harald of Norway. NOSTROMINO sailed nearby the fleet during the racing, sometimes single-handed by Anthony Bannwart, sometimes with guests on board, and always attracting the admiration of the owners and crews of the elegant 8 metre class yachts.
