WELCOME TO SUMMIT LEARNING TRUST

The Summit Learning Trust family is currently made up of three secondary schools, five primary schools and a sixth form college educating over 8000 learners. All of our academies are located in the Birmingham and Solihull areas which allows us to work closely together for the benefit of all our children, young people and the communities we serve. After another highly successful year, all of our academies are now judged by Ofsted as ‘Good’ providers with an increasing proportion of ‘Outstanding’ features.

We are relentless in our ambition for all our children and young people to make exceptional levels of academic progress and achieve strong portfolios of qualifications. Across Summit, our focus is on developing responsible, knowledgeable, highly skilled, global citizens who will have a positive impact on our communities now and in future years. We are developing our already established links with higher education establishments, local employers and charitable organisations to ensure that all our young people can benefit from these positive partnerships within our wider communities.

Our Trust is committed to providing vibrant learning communities in our schools and college, where our children and young people are happy, safe and supported to work hard. We are all acutely aware of our core purpose of educating all learners through exceptional teaching and learning, underpinned by high levels of care and support and we challenge our children and young people to do their best, every lesson, every day. We strive for all our learners to have as many life choices available to them as possible.

Being part of the Summit Learning Trust family means that all our academies benefit from a wide range of expertise, support and challenge. Leaders, teachers and support colleagues work with each other across our academies to develop and share excellent practice and provide support where needed. Our academies benefit from highly trained, expert, hardworking and dedicated staff teams who are all committed to providing an outstanding education and the highest levels of care for all our learners. Whilst other schools and colleges struggle to recruit and retain high quality, specialist teachers and support colleagues, we are proud that we attract a high calibre of professionals due to our happy, warm, and hard-working environments and the growing reputation of Summit Learning Trust as a great place to learn and work in.

We pride ourselves on working in partnership with parents, carers, families and other providers and hope that our website provides you with an insight into our trust.

ABOUT SUMMIT LEARNING TRUST

All our academies are at different points in their ascent to excellence. The specialist Executive forms a ‘Team around the academy’ which works with leaders, governors and trustees to assess the needs of the academy in all core aspects. This then informs the Executive designation of each institution and helps us to identify the level of support required from each directorate.

Increasingly, and particularly with reference to Academy Improvement, in-academy skills and expertise are used to support cross-academy work, particularly through our Summit Lead Practitioners, literacy leads, and EdTech leads. In addition, our Trust leadership and subject network groups provide opportunities for academy experts to work together driving curriculum vision, standards and implementation even higher. Our Professional Learning Institute (PLI) provides outstanding, centralised professional learning, support, and training for all our colleagues as well as brokering high quality external provision, where required. This fusion of ‘inward’ and ‘outward-facing’ strategic approaches helps to ensure Summit Learning Trust is continually improving in line with formally recognised leading pedagogical approaches and expert organisational practice, often as signposted by the Department for Education, Ofsted and other validated sources.

We take immense pride in the fact we have a detailed and responsive programme of events and provision to support our Trust priorities and continuous reflective learning for all our collegues. In Autumn 2022, we launched our Summit Base Camp programme across all of our academies, which works to address the issue of ‘disadvantage’ and the all-encompassing obstacles this factor brings, particularly in light of recent times. We support all learners we serve by working to give them access to basic elements they need to be able to make high levels of academic progress in their school or college. We work collaboratively across our Trust and with recognised external partners to provide targeted support with accessing food, equipment, uniform, hygiene products, health services, transport, digital products and access, beds and cultural experiences. This list is not exhaustive and we will remain committed to ensure our Trust does all it can to truly diminish the difference for all our children and young people.
