INTERIORS STUDIO Our Approach... At Walcott Adams Verneuille (WAV), our approach to Commercial Interior Design prioritizes attention to detail, both in addressing our client’s needs and their built environment. This results in functional, knowledge based design that positively impacts our clients’ business and the communities they serve. We are listeners and problem solvers, responding to needs for a variety of clients, resulting in transformative, sensitive, and appropriate solutions. Always mindful of creating designs which impact and improve daily functions, we utilize a thorough understanding of each client’s unique requirements to organize and bring to life their goals and vision. We strive to balance aesthetics with creative space planning in every project, and we work closely with our clients to understand their priorities and values during the design process. A custom, beautifully executed design that reinforces a client’s brand can be pivotal to any business. How often do you leave a dental appointment feeling inspired? Dr. Chris Frigo has used his practice to encourage his patients’ creativity, and he wanted his new office to visually support this passion. WAV designed the office interior to appeal to younger clients while educating them on different ideas that they are not typically exposed to in southern Mississippi. The art became the central theme of the project.

FRIGO ORTHODONTICS

The interior design was inspired by the Frigos’ love of art, especially graffiti and its urban aesthetic. We applied playful versions of graffiti by the artist Banksy to the walls throughout the building. This graffiti was enhanced by artwork by other fine artists such as Warhol and Basquiat.”

Polished concrete floors, brick walls, steel windows, textured tiles, riveted beam and wood accents were used to create an NYC Bowery warehouse aesthetic. Every room has a unique piece of art that is a conversation starter. It allows Dr. Frigo to engage the patients in a new way and broaden their view on arts and the world beyond Mississippi.

MEDICAL OFFICES

EASTPOINTE HOSPITAL After successful renovation of EastPointe’s main hospital, the Owner visualized a work space for the Care Team that would bring doctors, coordinators, therapists, residents and students, and administrative support (medical records and billing) together. WAV’s Interior Design Department appropriately balanced the need for privacy with the client’s desire to foster collaboration and communication. The creative use of materials and massing helps define meeting areas for different group sizes and purposes. The resulting space effectively dismantles barriers between team members.

This renovation resulted in an updated entrance for the whole facility with clear, direct, aesthetically pleasing signage and way-finding as an integral part of the design.

MEDICAL OFFICES

SPRINGHILL MEDICAL CENTER & CARDIOLOGY ASSOCIATES WAV worked with Springhill Medical Center and their tenant, Cardiology Associates, to update the Heart Center’s main lobby and common areas and create the design for Cardiology Associates’ new location in the building. The entrance areas were each updated to reflect the professionalism and detail-oriented care provided at the facility, while being warm and welcoming to patients and visitors. WAV amplified the volume of the double height lobby space to visually connect patients to the second floor with the design of several large scale graphics that draw the eye upward.

Visitors entering the Cardiology Associates offices observe that the finish themes from the Medical Center lobby flow into the reception area of the cardiology practice. The Cardiology Associates board room features a 24 foot long custom designed live edge black walnut table.

ALTAPOINTE HEALTHCARE EXECUTIVE OFFICES The addition and renovation of this existing building accommodated the relocated leadership team into one building for improved collaboration and communication. The renovated administrative suite features a new circular conference room with a custom-designed table that Altapointe’s CEO was instrumental in creating. He wanted all meeting attendees to equally see and participate in presentations without hierarchy. The ceiling design reflected the circular layout by using the custom wood panels to radiate around the decorative, over-scaled pendant light. The executive offices we’re renovated to incorporate small meeting areas adjacent to the private offices for improved communication.

One of WAV’s full-service architecture and interior design projects, this two-story dining hall on the University of South Alabama’s main campus is the University’s first LEED certified building. In addition to achieving LEED Silver, the 23,000 SF project was under construction within eight months of WAV being hired. The design team responded directly to the dining habits of the end-users, observing that college students have widely varied preferences and tend to “graze” from available options. By creating a layout inspired by upscale food courts, WAV delivered several different styles and choices for the USA community.

UNIVERSIT Y OF SOUTH ALABAMA DINING HALL

MAY’S CAFE AT THE DAUPHIN ISLAND SEA LAB Designed as a fun, friendly, casual dining experience for all ages, the Dauphin Island Sea Lab Cafeteria playfully references indigenous marine life and a coastal color palette. WAV’s interior designers carefully selected the cafeteria furnishings, fixtures, and equipment to be durable and functional while warmly welcoming both students and the visiting public.

Bright, colorful furniture and an epoxy “terrazzo” floor enliven the space, while aquatic-themed artwork and custom-designed railings offer fun accents for visitors of all ages.

NATIONAL BANK OF COMMERCE WAV designed National Bank of Commerce’s new Gulf Shores office to reflect both the upscale corporate image of the bank and the beach theme that naturally exists in Gulf Shores, Alabama. Careful attention was paid to creating an interior space that combines traditional and coastal elements with contemporary detailing. The wood panel doors and rustic beams provide a traditional feel, while custom-selected natural coral artwork and an aqua color palette bring the coastal surroundings inside the office interiors. Fresh contemporary details, such as flush walnut cabinetry with thickened quartz tops at the teller stations, help elegantly balance the office aesthetic between the old and the new.

COMMERCIAL BANKING

MERCHANT S & MARINE BANK, DAPHNE Subtle layering, unexpected material choices, and a neutral palette combine to give the Daphne branch office for M&M Bank an elegant, contemporary interpretation of an old-world bank. WAV’s interiors team created a residential feel in the entry space that opens up to a dramatically textured main teller area, with exposed brick, wood ceilings, quartz countertops, custom-designed iron gates, and playful, sculptural chandeliers. The serene artwork they selected enhances the color scheme and hints at coastal landscapes and sunsets.

COMMERCIAL BANKING

MERCHANT S & MARINE BANK , FAIRHOPE Once abandoned and in disrepair, the old Fairhope Post Office is on the National Register of Historic Places. The WAV Interior Design Team worked to restore the building to its original beauty and pay homage to its history while creating a modern banking space with teller “islands” and support spaces.

The interior renovations included restoring the original wood windows, plaster walls and wood beams.

POUR BABY WINE TASTING BAR The WAV Interiors Team created an intimate, comfortable atmosphere for this small wine tasting bar in Mobile, Alabama. Visitors can taste wines by the sip or the glass while enjoying food pairings created in the bar’s full service kitchen.
