A trauma-informed approach to yoga uses intentional language and movement to create a safer, more accessible practice. This class offers gentle yoga movements to help strengthen the body, connect with breath, and build energy. The 9:00 am class will be traditional yoga, the 10:30 am class will be Chair Yoga. Trauma can change how we relate to the world—causing us to relive the past, disconnect from our bodies, or become hyper-alert. While these adaptations help us survive, they can make it difficult to stay present and feel in control. All are welcome. Please bring your own mat.

Looking for a new fall activity? Bocce is played outdoors, is easy to learn, and a great way to meet people. Bocce “meetups” are an open play format for bocce games. Two to eight players take turns throwing the larger bocce balls at the smaller pallino, with the goal of getting their own ball closest to the pallino. Come when you can, teams will be formed with players in attendance. You will play with different players each week. Enjoy bocce fun, good sportsmanship, and friendship.

Waukesha Reads Trip – “33 Place Brugmann” EAA Aviation Museum –Books, Bombers & Bravery

Step back in time as we explore the powerful stories of aviation history and the courageous pilots of WWII. Inspired by the book 33 Place Brugmann, written by Wisconsin author Alice Austen, this memorable day includes a visit to the fascinating EAA Aviation Museum in Oshkosh to discover legendary aircraft and heroic wartime veterans, including one notable pilot who called Waukesha home.
The highlight of the day will be a docent led tour of the Eagle Hangar–a hall of honor dedicated to the memory of those who served valiantly during WWII. The collection features Allied fighters, bombers, liaison aircraft, trainers, Army and Navy aircraft, along with aircraft from Germany and Japan, offering a remarkable look at aviation history from all sides of the conflict. The dramatic 120-foot mural spanning the south wall of the Eagle Hangar showcases notable American aircraft and every Allied theater of war, capturing the immense scale of this global struggle for freedom.
We will enjoy a boxed lunch, followed by time for selfexploration of the museum’s many exhibits and displays. A day of learning, reflection, and camaraderie with fellow travelers to enjoy. All participants will receive a copy of 33 Place Brugmann to continue the journey through these remarkable stories of courage, resilience, and history.
For lunch, please choose one of the four menu selections:
1) Deluxe Ham Sandwich
2) Deluxe Roast Turkey Sandwich
3) Deluxe Roast Beef Sandwich
Each deluxe homemade sandwich is stacked high with ham, turkey or beef, crisp lettuce and juicy red slices of tomato on a Telera roll, served with relishes, a slice of cheese, marinated pasta salad and cookie.
4) Strawberry Feta Salad
Fresh strawberries, almonds, red onions and feta cheese atop a mound of romaine lettuce. Served with homemade raspberry vinaigrette dressing, a wheat roll and butter. All Box Lunches served with a choice of a can of soda or bottled water & chips.

Every autumn, select trees in our area put on a spectacular display of red, orange, yellow, and gold leaves before winter arrives. Understanding why leaves change color helps us appreciate not only the biological processes taking place but also the beauty and meaning that trees can bring to our lives.
During the growing season, leaves appear green because they contain chlorophyll, a pigment that captures sunlight and allows trees to produce food through photosynthesis. As days become shorter and temperatures begin to cool in autumn, trees prepare for winter by slowing their food production. Chlorophyll breaks down and gradually disappears from the leaves. Once the green color fades, other pigments that were present all along become visible. Carotenoids produce yellow and orange shades, while anthocyanins create brilliant reds and purples. Eventually, the tree seals off the connection between the leaf and the branch, causing the leaf to fall to the ground.
The science behind autumn colors is fascinating and the changing leaves remind us that nature is constantly adapting and renewing itself. Bright colors transform forests, parks, and neighborhoods into vibrant landscapes that inspire wonder and reflection. Many people associate autumn with family traditions, outdoor walks, and the comfort of seasonal change. The beauty of colorful leaves encourages us to slow down and notice the natural world around us. notice the natural world around us.

Trees can teach valuable lessons through their autumn transformation. As leaves fall, trees demonstrate that letting go can be a necessary part of growth and survival. This process mirrors experiences in human life, such as change, transition, and renewal. Watching leaves drift to the ground can evoke feelings of nostalgia while also offering hope for the future, knowing that new leaves will emerge in spring.
Our hope, as you witness change this autumn, is that your of appreciation for trees and forests is renewed. That the vibrant colors provide a visible reminder that trees are living organisms responding to their environment. As you enjoy the newly visible carotenoids and anthocyanins, you recognize that change can bring out beauty hiding just under the surface and how important protecting natural spaces and preserving healthy forests is for future generations.

Autumn Purple White Ash (Fraxinus americana ‘Autumn Purple’)Autumn Purple White Ash was a popular shade tree known for its rapid growth, strong branching structure, and outstanding fall color. In autumn, its dark green foliage transforming into a striking deep purple to burgundy color, creating a dramatic landscape display. This tree is now a rare find due to the mortality caused by the Emerald Ash Borer so enjoy it while you can!
