Whether it is their first year or fifth year of baseball/softball, we have a program for your young slugger! Blast Ball introduces your littles to the concept of baseball/softball. From there, your child can advance all the way through Legion baseball sponsored by Carl E. Rogen American Legion Post 29 and the Watford City Walleye Baseball Club or Girls Fast-Pitch Softball.

A fun class helping children and parents learn how to be safe and feel comfortable in the water.

LEVEL 1 - INTRODUCTION TO WATER SKILLS

Your child is introduced to basic skills and the development of water competency. Skills include: assisted floats, glides, bobs, alternating arms and legs on front and back.

LEVEL 2 -

FUNDAMENTAL AQUATIC SKILLS

This level marks on the beginning of independent aquatic locomotion skills. The following skills are taught: floating on front and back, swimming on front and back with alternating arms and legs, rolling from front to back and gliding.

LEVEL 3 - STROKE DEVELOPMENT

Learn to swim the front crawl and elementary backstroke, introduced to the scissor kick and dolphin kicks, learn the survival float and independently tread water. Also, learn the rules for headfirst entries

LEVEL 4 - STROKE IMPROVEMENT

Your child will improve the swimming stroke proficiency and swimming for longer distances The introduction of the breaststroke, butterfly, sidestroke and open turns on front and back. Two headfirst entries of the stride dive and compact dive complete this level.

LEVEL 5 - STROKE REFINEMENT

In Level 5, you will refine all six swimming strokes and swimming for longer distances New water safety skills will be introduced while building on ones previously learned and perform flip turns on front and back.

LEVEL 6 - FITNESS SWIMMER

You will refine swimming, physical fitness in the water and water safety skills that were taught throughout all levels

An obstacle course over water?

What could be more fun!

The RRC Aquatics Center is getting an inflatable track in the beginning of 2023. This track has over 5 different obstacles that can be rearranged to change the course. We can't wait to amp up the fun meter for everyone!

All children ages 8 and under, regardless of swimming ability, must always have an adult (13 or older) swim buddy in the pool within arm’s reach.

Must pass a swimming test issued by a lifeguard before being permitted to use the inflatable. Swimming test: Jump in and completely submerge. Recover to the surface, swim 25 yards without stopping, and tread water for 1 min.

Lifejackets are allowed on the structure.

Watford City Park District has lifeguard OPPORTUNITIES for you! Be at least 15 years old on or before the final scheduled session of the course. Complete the online learning portion of the course BEFORE class begins. Swim 300 yards, continuously demonstrating breath control and rhythmic breathing. Candidates may swim using front crawl, breast stroke or a combination of both. Swimming on the back or side is NOT allowed. Goggles may be used.
CERTIFICATION
Candidates must meet the following requirements: Register online or in person at the Rough Rider Center. Includes a hip pack, adult and infant CPR mask. All class times and dates are MANDATORY.
