INLAND WATERWAYS ASSOCIATION IPSWICH BRANCH Annual General Meeting
Minutes of the 42nd Annual General Meeting held on Friday 12th February 2016 at the Needham Market Community Centre at 7.30 p.m. There were 17 members in attendance. The Chairman Rod Mansel, opened the meeting by welcoming everyone to the 42nd AGM. APOLOGIES FOR ABSENCE Peter Bowers, Brian and Diana Holt APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES OF THE 2015 AGM The minutes of the 2015 meeting were approved by Chard Wadley and seconded by Charles Stride and were then duly signed by the Chairman. MATTERS ARISING FROM THOSE MINUTES None CHAIRMAN’S REPORT Rod started the meeting by thanking everyone for coming. The Chairman continued by saying that it has been an interesting year and a steep learning curve, not helped with the resignation of our Secretary. Rod attended the IWA AGM in Warwickshire which was very interesting. Rod mentioned the IWA campaign to get the EA waterways transferred to the control of CRT and urged all members to use the IWA form letter to wrote to their MPs to back the campaign. Rod also mentioned the new CRT initiative where IWA volunteers were being asked to move Canal & Riverboat Trust work boats to areas when needed. Rod thanked Gerry for organising the Annual Dinner to be held on Saturday 5th March where the Chairman’s Plate will be awarded. Rod also thanked Spencer for organising the coach trip. SECRETARY’S REPORT Absent due to resignation TREASURER’S REPORT Spencer presented the accounts and explained the summary that had been given to all those present. The Ipswich Branch of IWA had used £4,000.00 of Doug Tomlinson’s bequest to help purchase a digger and trailer for use by the RGT. Brain Ennis and Spencer Greystrong drove to Glasgow to pick up the digger and trailer and bring them back to Pipps Ford at no cost to the Branch. The Coach Trip will go ahead as planned. Spencer reported that the IWA National Treasurer has decided to retire after many years at Head Office. .
