WHO WE ARE The story of Waterproof is also the story of the founders; two brothers who grew up by the sea on the west coast of Sweden. Completely different personalities in most ways, but sharing the same passion.

Björn Ehlmé, CEO, an inventive and creative businessman. Göran Ehlmé, Head of R&D, a passionate diver leading expeditions to the polar regions as well as an underwater photographer for the BBC and National Geographic.

In order to survive the harsh Scandinavian climate, our ancestors learned the importance of paying attention to the smallest details. They learned that their equipment must be able to stand up to the reality of their climate. That is why we at Waterproof control our own R&D, have our own production facilities and do our own sourcing of materials. We test our products and ideas on our expeditions at Antarctica and the Arctic, as well as other challenging places around the world. And all of this under the most rigorous quality control, in order to meet the toughest standards and challenges posed by the real world. This is our heritage and we are proud of it. At Waterproof we simply call this Facing Reality!

We have more than 35 years of experience as a producer and developer of high-end diving gear.

The Waterproof story has grown during the years and now includes a dedicated development team and multiple awards for best diving suits. We have independent distributors in every country where diving matters and production facilities, service stations and retailers worldwide. We are represented on every continent and in every ocean!

DRYSUITS

D1X HYBRID

The D1X is part of the new generation of amazing and unique Insulated Constant Volume Drysuits, developed and patented a couple of years ago. There is, so far, no followers from competitors to match these unique features.

At Waterproof we have always been keen on keeping up with the latest materials and developments and the D1X is the result of this.

The outer fabric of D1X is made of soft, flexible and strong Polytech 500 Tri-Lam fabric. The patented system of D1X includes a detachable, integrated 3D Mesh inner lining – a soft and flexible material with outstanding insulation. The suit is equipped with a metal dryzipper with zipper cover, SI TECH Quick Neck System with Warm Neck, SI TECH QCS Oval Ring System with Warm Cuffs, Silicone seals for neck and wrists, heavy duty expandable pockets and SI TECH valves.

The unique Warm Neck and Cuff system is keeping the diver warmer, due to reduced water movement, and also protects the seals.

All parts of the suit concerning mobility have been anatomically designed to enhance the freedom of movement.

The suit has DuPont™ Kevlar® fiber reinforced knee pads, a seam-free crotch area reinforced with heavy duty Cordura® and anti-slip seat for grip and abrasion protection – all this to ensure an excellent durable and comfortable drysuit.

FLEXLOCK™ THE NEW PATENTED SOFT RING SYSTEM

Have you ever longed for a soft ring system for your dry suit that seamlessly blends with the arm of the suit? A system that maintains its softness even in colder conditions and is both safe and user-friendly. The new patented Flexlock system could be the solution you've been searching for.

It's constructed from transparent TPU (Thermoplastic Polyurethane), it's lightweight, and it boasts a visual confirmation window to ensure that the seal is correctly mounted, keeping you dry.

Please take note that this system requires a unique silicone wrist seal. (Silicone Wrist Seal for FlexLock) Should you wish to install our dry glove system, Ultima Twist, you will require a special version of the Ultima Twist, available in 2024.

D7 EVO

Is it possible to improve a bestseller? That was the question facing our R&D Department following the release of our D7X suits. We took the time to listen to the market, delved into our own desires and experiences, and the result is the new flagship of the D7 family, the D7 Evo. The D7 Evo features our newly patented soft wrist ring system, FLEXLOCK, a clever, slim, soft, and safe interchangeable silicone seal system. The FLEXLOCK seamlessly integrates into the suit's arm.

Furthermore, the new D7 Evo is equipped with a flexible and soft YKK Aquaseal Plastic dry zipper, making the process of putting on and taking off the suit even easier. We've continued to use the well-proven Nylotech material with additional Kevlar reinforcement in the seat and elbows. There's an extra zippered pocket in the pocket lid for dive tables, checklists, and more. The suit is equipped with the SI TECH Quick Neck System, SI TECH valves, and it comes with the new TPU roll-top dry bag.

D3 ERGO

D3 Ergo is a lightweight, soft and durable drysuit – a rare combination. We have developed and tested drysuit material together with our producer since 1983, and this drysuit is made of the best lightweight Tri-Lam fabric they have ever developed. The suit is also sewn with single stitch and soft rubber taped seams, which makes it really flexible and comfortable.

The D3 Ergo is equipped with soft, flexible neoprene boots, SI TECH Quick Neck System and Warm Neck, SI TECH QCS Oval Ring System and Warm Cuffs, Silicone seals for neck and wrists, a plastic dryzipper, light pockets with loops inside and SI TECH valves. The whole suite with valves, boots, seals and suspenders weighs only 4.1 kg (in men’s medium).

The D3 Ergo originates from our expedition- and military suits, where lightweight, flexibility and movability is essential.

We realized that these characteristics were desired among other divers, so we decided to make a similar suit with strong Tri-Lam fabric. So, if you love movability, flexibility, a snug fit, low weight and durability – this is the suit for you. D3 Ergo is designed for unrestricted movability and control, both above and below the surface. Therefore, it has a slimmer cut around the torso and legs for less drag and unnecessary air movement. The suit has more space around the shoulders to improve the movability in this area. With the placement of the dry zipper and the very soft Tri-Lam fabric, there are literally no restrictions in movement.

THE ULTIMATE SCHOOL DRYSUIT The D70 SC concept was developed after numerous demands from dive schools, instructors and resorts who wanted a durable, yet economical, drysuit for rental and training. THE ULTIMATE SEARCH AND RESCUE, SAR SUIT The R7 RESCUE concept was developed together with the Swedish Sea Rescue Society, SSRS. This resulted in a safe, comfortable and practical suit, anatomically designed with no restraints. The waterproof and breathable Quad-Lam fabric has a top layer of 330D Cordura® to ensure good durability. The protected front YKK Aqua Seal #10 plastic zipper is more flexible and easier to open and close than conventional zippers.

FULL-SUIT IN STRETCHY NEOPRENE WITH WPADTM The WATERPROOF W50 and W80. Developed due to the great demand for comfortable and warm, yet highly flexible wetsuits. When designing the BODY X and BODY 2X, we were inspired by the structure of the fur of a polar bear living under extreme environmental conditions. BODY X and BODY 2X are made of a hollow fiber polyester fleece. It insulates far better than a regular fiber due to being hollow and filled with air. It is a material that achieves high thermal insulation without increasing weight.

It´s all about keeping warm and dry! This technically advanced fabric also has excellent moisture-wicking properties. It is designed to pull moisture away from the skin, by capillary action, and out to the exterior of the fabric where it can evaporate easily. The combination of hollow fiber insulation and excellent moisture wicking properties creates an extremely warm and comfortable undergarment.

We are all different. We react different to heat and cold, activity and rest. That´s why we offer you to choose from different sizes and thicknesses for the upper and lower body. 285 g/m2 (BODY X) or 665 g/m2 (BODY 2X). You can choose any combination you like. Available as top and leggings.

There are several solutions that support drysuits with soft socks on the market. “Rock-Boots” is the common name for the group in general. But there are few boots that also support the insulation factor. The B5 neoprene boot is a sturdy rubber reinforced soft boot with several technical finesses. Like the adjustable ankle strap that secures the foot from slipping inside the boot. With well-defined fin strap stopper this boot will support a firm base for the fin. The upper part of the boot holds an adjustment strap to sit firm on the foot and tightens the area where air and water otherwise would flow.

Our Hair Protector is made to protect your hair when putting your drysuit on and off and the tight fit ensures that it stays on. Most of our suits and accessories are manufactured out of Limestone neoprene which has the lowest carbon footprint in modern wetsuit and drysuit production. The use of limestone neoprene is an effort to make wetsuits as green as possible. Neoprene is extremely durable and a well-designed diving suit will last for years, or in many cases, decades.

The “eco-friendly” alternatives to neoprene currently on the market are not ideal from our point of view.

With them, you will get an inferior product with short durability. This is leading to overconsumption, which we don’t consider true sustainability and therefore not an option.

We are well aware that neoprene is an imperfect solution. But at the moment, neoprene is still more sustainable than the alternatives. We need to get away from the disposable product mentality and the short life of products worldwide – and move towards a more sustainable production and development of materials.
