NOVEMBER NEWS

Winter snows are here and we are taking an opportunity to catch our breath for a moment and take in what an amazing fall we had here at the Wasilla Chamber. In October, we celebrated a successful Mat-Su Fall Economic Summit, where community leaders and experts shared valuable insights into the economic future of our region. We were also thrilled to host the ‘Mat-Su: Thriving Together’ Luncheon (State of the Borough), hearing all about the Boroughs progress and goals for the future. Adding to our accomplishments, we held five ribbon cuttings to welcome new businesses to the community and celebrate expanding businesses, and we're incredibly proud to announce that the Greater Wasilla Chamber of Commerce received the BBB Torch Award for Business Ethics—a testament to our commitment to integrity and community service. Looking ahead, November brings us Support Local November! This month-long initiative is dedicated to spotlighting our amazing local businesses. It’s the perfect time to shop, dine, and support the incredible entrepreneurs who make Mat-Su thrive. Don't miss out on the chance to win fantastic prizes by participating and shopping local!

Thank you for joining us in celebrating our community’s progress and growth. Stay tuned for more opportunities to connect and make a difference this season!

The Mat-Su Fall Economic Conference, held on October 15th, was a resounding success, drawing over 100 attendees who engaged in a full day of insightful discussions and valuable networking. Hosted in partnership with the Mat-Su Borough and the City of Wasilla, the event featured four dynamic panel discussions and an educational luncheon, providing attendees with a deep dive into the economic issues and opportunities shaping the Mat-Su Valley. Experts and community leaders came together to share their knowledge on critical topics, offering participants actionable insights and a chance to connect with peers from across the region.

The positive feedback from attendees underscored the event’s impact, as participants left with a stronger understanding of the MatSu Valley’s economic landscape and new ideas for their own organizations. This successful collaboration with local government partners highlighted the unified commitment to fostering sustainable growth and prosperity in our community. We are already looking forward to building on this momentum at the Spring Economic Summit in April 2025, which will expand to a twoday format. This upcoming event promises even more in-depth discussions, collaborative opportunities, and insights as we work together to shape the future of the Mat-Su Valley.

Ribbon Cuttings

LET’S CUT SOME RIBBONS!

I am continually blown away by the amazing growth of this community, and we are so lucky we get to share so many exciting moments with our local businesses, year after year.

The Wasilla Chamber has hosted 6 ribbon cuttings in 4 weeks between the end of September and late-mid October! Thats a lot of ribbons to cut! When we cut the ribbon at Valley Charities new medical lending closet on October 23rd, we tied the record we set JUST LAST YEAR for the most ribbon cuttings in a single year at 14. The ribbon cutting record for the Wasilla Chamber was previously set in 2021 when we did 13 ribbon cuttings - Wasilla has just been growing exponentially since!
