Beginning at age 11 in 1959, Barbara Rosenthal has kept journals. This volume of the now over 70 of them, was one of twelve exhibited at The Center for Book Arts, NYC in February 2014. Rosenthal is an internationally acclaimed artist, performer and writer born and still living in New York, and the journals chronicle the people and experiences of the artworld, as well as personal and family life with Bill Creston and their daughters Ola and Sena Clara Creston. Although she keeps separate "Project Books", this "Journal Volume" does contain some drawings and notes for projects, in particular some of her "Caveman Cartoons", which in 2006 were the subject of her solo show in Moscow. The volume begins in Indiana, where she has gone on an expedition for her "Surreal Photography" project. Among the many cross-references to her on Wikipedia, is that of "American Diarist," one of the few still living.
