Applefest began in 1989 as a simple harvest celebration held in the village streets and parks of Warwick, located in New York’s Hudson Valley . The event, produced by the Warwick Valley Chamber of Commerce, has grown to become a major event in the mid- Hudson region . Festival proceeds benefit this and other local, non-profit organizations.
This family festival has become an event that many look forward to each year . For three years, Applefest has been the proud winner in the Times Herald-Record newspaper’s “Best Family Event of the Year” category, determined by reader votes. The event was also chosen as one of the top ten festivals in the “Top 100 Events in North America” by the American Bus Association.
Over 30,000 visitors attend the one-day event - many local, and many others who travel from neighboring states to experience the extraordinary variety of Warwick’s apples, culture, and entertainment . Former New York Governor George Pataki named Warwick a “Quality Community,” and the Village of Warwick is a proud winner of recent national and international “America in Bloom” competitions .
Applefest features over 150 juried crafters and dozens of vendors offering a wonderful variety of food. In addition, free musical entertainment on several stages, activities for the children, pony rides, Farmers’ Market, and over forty local non-profit exhibitors all make for a great day in the country, in a town renowned for its Victorian charm and agricultural bounty.
The festival is produced by the Warwick Valley Chamber of Commerce, which is a full-service business development and marketing organization dedicated to helping businesses in the Town of Warwick, NY, as well as the surrounding areas, reach their full potential.
A number of leading edge initiatives make consumers in the local municipalities and neighboring areas aware of the value that comes with purchasing goods and services in the Warwick Valley. Visit us at: www.warwickcc.org.
