Disability tennis

Facing sub-zero temperatures and a frozen tennis court, it looked like the final disability tennis session on Friday 19 December would have to be cancelled. However, volunteer Sue Fardoe had already purchased a plentiful supply of Santa hats and reindeer antlers which would have gone to waste. So, it was decided to run the sessions on our lovely warm squash courts. Despite the restricted space the students and volunteers entered into the spirit with their usual enthusiasm and saved the day. Thank you Squash section for allowing it to happen.

Tennis court improvements

New fencing has been completed for the riverside courts, creating a much better playing atmosphere. Unfortunately there has been a delay installing the LED lights on courts 9 & 10 due to a supply issue. We are doing everything we can to have the work completed.

Courts 9 & 10 are to be deep cleaned soon to improve the surface, and there will be new LED lights for court 5.

Hopefully next year we may add a new playing surface, that will offer greater variation to our tennis.

WBC Social Media

For now, we are concentrating on Facebook, with some Instagram presence. Our objective is to build a following from outside as well as inside the club. The intention is to have the club well thought of externally and for local people to think positively about us. Also to make sure WBC is a desirable club to join.

We are pleased to have Kate Pittel lead on this online activity, and she will do the majority of the posts. In order for us to build a good following there will need to be a steady flow of interesting news and Kate will need a team to provide these stories. Each section has been asked to provide gatherers of information and, no doubt, our admin team will be able to contribute. Anyone interested and willing to be involved should contact Kate on kate@writingit.co.uk. This is also the email address to which you can send news items, ideally accompanied by a photo or two.
