Greetings to the Warrensburg community, we are excited to tell you about some new happenings within your Warrensburg Parks & Recreation Department. With the support and direction of the Parks & Recreation Board, we will be adding NEW fitness equipment to the Community Center Fitness area. This will include 5 new treadmills, several pieces of select weight equipment and free weights. On top of the fitness area being upgraded with new equipment, we are also excited to apply new paint to the area.

We are also adding NEW park entrance signs with landscaping at the foot of each sign to the 8 parks within the City of Warrensburg. The new park signs will upgrade the parks overall aesthetic look that we are striving for. We are looking for community groups who would like to join us in this “community based project”, so please contact my office if you are interested. Also, we want to extend a special THANK YOU to the Public Works Department, for their hard work on park projects and their ongoing work with the Parks & Recreation Department.

Also NEW this year, all Community Center Members will receive a 10% discount on the purchase of a Summer Pass at the NASSIF Aquatic Center. This is our way of saying “thank you” to our Community Center Members. Our membership at the Community Center has grown by over 200 new members since January, we deeply appreciate your support of the Warrensburg Community Center.

Registration is underway for our Summer Day Camp, Youth Summer Sports, Swim Lessons, and all of our Spring/Summer programs, so come on into the Community Center and sign up. Also enjoy our 400 plus acres of parkland, including playgrounds, trails, sports fields, water areas, and plenty of open space. INCLUSIVE PLAYGROUND AT CAVE HOLLOW

What started as a dream has become a reality, thanks to a lot of hard work, effort, and dedication.

The Inclusive Playground at Cave Hollow Park, a joint project between Warrensburg Parks and Recreation (WPR), the City of Warrensburg and Johnson County Board of Services (JCBS), began in 2016 as an idea to create a family-friendly, all-inclusive recreation space where everyone, of all ages and abilities, can play to the greatest extent possible. Funding was provided by WPR, the City of Warrensburg, JCBS, fundraising projects, and grants from the Department of Natural Resources and the Missouri Parks & Recreation Association, in partnership with Gametime and Playcore.

WPR is proud to join our partners in providing equal access to everyone as we connect and engage children, families, and communities Visit www.spirittrail.org for more information!

WE APPRECIATE OUR VOLUNTEERS!

Volunteers are an integral part of Warrensburg Parks and Recreation. Come watch a soccer, baseball, basketball or volleyball game and you will see the impact of volunteers. Many of our activities are only possible thanks to volunteers. You may also see the benefits of volunteer effort in our parks – they are regularly painted, spruced up and cleaned by members of the community looking for an opportunity to contribute.
