FROM THE DIRECTOR It’s hard to believe that the holidays are upon us and 2018 is coming to a close. We are grateful to all of our coaches, participants, sponsors, parents, and community. 2018 has had a lot of evolution and a few challenges, but we are thankful for all of them, and look forward to continued growth in 2019. Our team has worked hard to expand our current programs and leagues, to better serve you! Be on the look out for new programs like coding classes, competitive baseball and softball, pink stilettos, and many other new offerings. We also now offer a Team Store for apparel and equipment, and we have a special deal on Nassif Season Passes which includes an exclusive insulated cup! As we enter this season of gratitude, we would be remiss to thank those that have served. We are thankful for your service and protecting our freedom. As a small thank you, we will be offering ‘Military Mondays’ in February!

Children 3 and under have free access to the indoor pool All Guests have FREE access to the Indoor Track and Gym Must be 13+ to use Fitness Center All passes provide exclusive access to our award-winning Fitness Center, Indoor Track, gymnasium, Indoor Aquatic Center, and all group exercise classes. Guests must check in at the Front Desk and have a wristband to use the facilities. All guests must have an account with Parks & Rec to use our facilities and classes. Front Desk staff will be happy to sign you up!

Billing: Monthly passes are billed on the 16th of the month. Payments are automatically withdrawn from the card or bank account provided. Monthly Fee Return: A $25 service fee is assessed for each returned fee/check. Membership Cancellation: Visit the front desk to cancel membership. Cancel at any time with no penalty, but you must cancel on or before the 10th of the month in order to avoid being billed for the next month.

Whether you want to get in shape, stay in shape, go for a swim, hold a business meeting, family reunion or birthday party, or just hang out with friends and have FUN, the WCC is a great place for you! Make sure to stop by our front desk where our friendly community center attendants can check you in, help you register for activities, and answer any questions you might have about all the great things your center has to offer. Fitness Center Our fitness center has been named 'Best Fitness Center' in the 'Burg 2 years in a row for good reason. We offer a wide variety of fitness equipment including treadmills, ellipticals, bikes (recumbent and upright), weight machines, free weights, kettle bells, exercise balls and much more! Daily exercise and fitness classes for all ages are held daily in the state-of-the-art aerobics room. The fitness center opens at the same time the Community Center does and closes 15 minutes before the building closes. Walking Track Our walking track circles the Community Center on the 2nd level and overlooks the Indoor Pool area and is free to use with check-in at the front desk. 11-1/3 times around the track equals 1 mile. Children 13 & younger must be accompanied by an adult. The walking track is open the same hours as the Fitness Center. WCC Indoor Aquatic Center Features a lap and leisure pool, a hot tub, zero-entry splash pool with 2 slides, mushroom fountain, and pool! 7 WCC Reservable Rooms Can accommodate meetings, special family events and programs of all shapes and sizes. Whether hosting a small event or one for 200, Warrensburg Parks & Recreation (WPR) can help! See details on Page 6. WCC Gymnasium Features 1 regulation size basketball court or 2 courts with 6 basketball goals, 2 volleyball courts, bleachers, and 3 pickleball courts.

INCLUSIVE PLAYGROUND AT CAVE HOLLOW PARK What started as a dream has become a reality, thanks to a lot of hard work, effort, and dedication. The Inclusive Playground at Cave Hollow Park, a joint project between Warrensburg Parks and Recreation (WPR), the City of Warrensburg and Johnson County Board of Services (JCBS), began in 2016 as an idea to create a family-friendly, all-inclusive recreation space where everyone, of all ages and abilities, can play to the greatest extent possible. Funding was provided by WPR, the City of Warrensburg, JCBS, fundraising projects, and grants from the Department of Natural Resources and the Missouri Parks & Recreation Association, in partnership with Gametime and Playcore. WPR is proud to join our partners in providing equal access to everyone as we connect and engage children, families, and communities.

Register early, classes fill up quickly! Fee: $50; Register by Wednesday prior to session start date and fee is reduced to $40! Swimming lessons are held at the Warrensburg Community Center Indoor Pool. Water Babies and Preschool Swim Academy classes are 30 minutes long and levels 1-4 are 45 minutes.

DESCRIPTION

LEVEL Waterbabies

Entering and exiting the water safely; submerging in a rhythmic pattern; gliding on the front and back with assistance; performing combined stroke on front and back with assistance; changing body position in the water; and experiencing wearing a life jacket in the water. Each child must be accompanied by a participating adult and wear a swimsuit and swim diaper.

Preschool

Entering the water independently using ladder, steps or side and travel at least 5 yards; submerging mouth and blowing bubbles for at least 3 seconds; exiting the water safely; gliding on front for at least 2 body lengths; rolling to back and floating for 3 seconds; and recovering to a vertical position. (All skills are demonstrated with assistance.)

Level 1

Entering the water independently using the ladder, steps or side; traveling at least 5 yards; bobbling3 times then safely exiting the water; gliding on front supported at least 2 body lengths; rolling to back float for 3 seconds with support; and recovering to a vertical position with support. (Most skills are demonstrated with assistance.)

Level 2

Entering and exiting; moving into a front float for 5 seconds; rolling to back; floating for 5 seconds then recovering to a vertical position; pushing off and swimming using combined arm and leg actions on front for 5 body lengths; rolling to back; floating for 15 seconds; and rolling to the front then continuing to swim for 5 body lengths.

LITTLE HOOPSTERS BASKETBALL LEAGUE Program Format: This instructional program is for children ages 5-6 years old. Games will be played on modified courts and goals. Teams will be formed randomly by staff prior to the start of the program. Equipment Provided: WPR will provide basketballs and each participant will receive an official WPR Little Hoopsters shirt to be worn for games and practices. Practice/Game Days: Practices will be held each Tuesday for one hour (5:30pm - 8:30pm) Games will be played on Thursdays from (5:30pm - 8:30pm). Each team will play 6 games. BIDDY BASKETBALL CLINIC Location: All games and practices will be played at Warrensburg Community Center. Program Format: 5 week program designed for children ages Schedule may be extended beyond current end date if inclement 3-5 years old. ADULT PICKLE BALL League Format: 6 weeks of Wednesday night matches. This will be a self-officiated league so it will be up to the winning team to report the scores at the end of the match. Team Formation: Games are played as 2 vs 2. Sign up as an individual and be sure to indicate during the registration process whether or not you have a partner. RECREATIONAL BASEBALL/SOFTBALL League Information: The Recreational Development League (RDL) teaches players the fundamentals of the game, basic skill sets, and places an emphasis on team work and having fun. A standardized assessment of skills will be given to all players and teams will be formed from the results of the skill assessment. All players bat and have equal play opportunity. Good sportsmanship will be required of all players and coaches at all times. Coaches Meetings: All coaches meetings will be held at the Community Center on March 27. Coaches Meeting Times: 8U - 6pm. 10U - 7pm. 12U - 7:30pm. Equipment: All participants will receive a jersey and baseball cap/ visor. Each child will be responsible for providing their own pants, shoes and gloves. We will provide each coach with an equipment bag with batting helmets available, but it is encouraged that kids come with their own helmets. Practices: Each team will have one weekday and one weekend practice until games begin. Once games begin, each team will practice on weekends. Practices will begin the week of April 1. YOUTH SOCCER League Format: 5 regular season games, 1 guaranteed game in single-elimination tournament at end of season. (Total of 6 guaranteed games) Coaches Meeting: All coaches meetings will be held at the Community Center on Thursday, February 21. WPR staff will contact all coaches in advance with times and dates. Game Schedule: Saturdays & Sundays, March 9th - April 15th Practices: Begin the week of February 25th. Teamâ€™s will practice twice per week until games start, then move to one practice per week during the season. Equipment Provided: Practice balls, games balls, and jerseys. ADULT SLOW PITCH SOFTBALL League Structure: All skill levels welcome! The season will consist of 10 league games under a doubleheader format and automatic entry into a single-elimination post season tournament. Games: Games will be played on Monday eveningâ€™s between 6:30pm and 10:30pm. Games are 7 innings or 60 minutes in length. Games will begin April 23 and conclude June 3. The season may be extended for makeup games if necessary. Governing Rules: This league follows ASA rules unless stated otherwise. For a copy of the rules, please email: kyle.crews@ warrensburg-mo.com. Team Registration: Team captains/managers will register their team and receive a roster form via email. Team rosters must submitted to the Site Supervisor on the first night of games. Rosters may not exceed 20 players. COED requires teams to field an equal number of men and women. Equipment: Teams will be responsible for providing their own equipment including game balls. Game balls must be Optic Yellow, A.S.A stamped, red-stitched, core .52 softballs, 300 compression. Men will hit a 12-inch ball, and women will hit an 11-inch ball. TEE BALL League Information: Tee Ball (U6) is a non-competitive league for kids 6 and under. Coaches are volunteers and no previous coaching experience is required. All teams will be assigned by WPR staff. Coaches Meeting: Thursday, May 2nd at 6PM in the Community Center. Season Structure: Each team will get 5 practices and 7 games. The first practice is scheduled for May 7. The first game is scheduled for May 16. Equipment: All participants will receive an official WPR Tee Ball shirt for games and practices.
