Inspiring stories for annual Women in Ag lunch

Inspiring stories of leadership and unique journeys in agriculture will be shared at the annual Telstra Women in Ag lunch at Farm World.

The line-up of guest speakers this year includes Australian television presenter Catriona Rowntree, “The Flying Vet” Ameliah Scott and Victorian Opposition leader Jess Wilson will speak about women in leadership.

To be held on Thursday, March 26, the annual event is an opportunity for women in ag to connect with like-minded women, enjoy lunch with a glass of wine, and hear from three speakers who will share their unique journeys in agriculture and beyond.

Women will be inspired, challenged, and motivated as the speakers offer real-life insights, from triumphs to trials, pushing the ausdience to think outside the box and embrace new opportunities.

The lunch is the perfect setting for networking in a relaxed and uplifting atmosphere. Gather your friends, rally your colleagues, and book tickets online.

A pre-lunch welcome to country ceremony in the Events Centre forecourt will be held at at 10.45am.

Catriona Rowntree

Famously known as Australia’s most travelled woman, Catriona has spent more than 27 years presenting the iconic travel series Getaway, making her one of the longest-running hosts on Australian television.

Beginning in community radio before moving to Triple J and then television, Catriona built a career sharing the world’s most inspiring destinations. Alongside Getaway, she has hosted programs including Australia’s Funniest Home Videos, the Logie awards, and Find My Country House.

She also is the author of several books including Catriona’s Australia and The Best of World Cruising.

In 2008, Catriona traded city life for the countryside when she married Victorian farmer James Pettit. Now based on their historic bluestone homestead atop a working sheep station, she fully embraces farm life - raising their two boys, participating in seasonal farm work, and championing the wool industry and regional Australia.

A passionate supporter of community and charity, Catriona uses her platform to highlight rural stories, local producers, and the importance of Australia’s farming communities.

Jess Wilson

Ameliah Scott

Ameliah runs a mobile veterinary service across a 200,000 square kilometres region in far western New South Wales.

Based with her young family on her family’s station near White Cliffs, she helps run their dorper sheep, cattle, and rangeland goat operation - where her children are now the sixth generation to grow up on the land.

Growing up in such a remote environment inspired Ameliah to become “The Flying Vet”, determined to bring vital animal care to isolated properties across the region.

When she’s not travelling between stations tending to clients and their animals, Amelia is at home in the thick of station life - mustering, fencing, lamb marking, or battling the accounting software while doing the books. Like many women in agriculture, Ameliah wears many hats: mother, wife, farmer, and vet.

Opposition leader Jess Wilson will focus on women in leadership during her presentation at the lunch. Elected as the Member for Kew in 2022, Jess is leader of the Liberal Party and shadow treasurer.

Jess is an experienced public policy professional, having advised Australia’s largest employers and worked at the highest levels of government. She began her professional career at global professional services firm KPMG and later served as a ministerial adviser to a federal cabinet minister.

Jess has spent most of her professional career in the private sector, most recently at the Business Council of Australia as executive director of policy and company secretary.

In addition to leading policy development in the energy and climate change space, she led a team of policy experts across tax, regulatory reform, infrastructure, skills and education, digital and cyber security.

Back for its second year partnering with PBR Australia, the Farm World Rodeo returns on Saturday, March 28 - bigger, bolder, and ready to thrill.

Following the huge success of 2025, the Touring Pro Division PBR Lardner Park will deliver a night packed with bull riding, barrel racing, and all the heart-pumping action that makes rodeos one of Australia’s favourite spectacles.

Farm safety the top priority for the Victorian Farmers Federation

PROMOTING farm safety, animal welfare and biosecurity across Victoria is the aim of two Victorian Farmers Federation projects.

The Making Our Farms Safer (MOFS) and Stock Sense project teams are set to be at Farm World this March, on-hand to answer all your farm safety and livestock questions.

Stock Sense, which is funded by the Cattle and Sheep and Goats Compensation Funds, helps Victorian livestock producers and hobby farmers maintain and improve their animal health and welfare and farm biosecurity.

They do this through free online resources like webinars, factsheets and a monthly newsletter, as well as facilitating educational workshops across the state.

The Stock Sense team is excited to be visiting Farm World this year.

Similarly, the MOFS team regularly hit the road, travelling across the state to conduct free farm safety visits and community meetings, while also putting out a monthly newsletter and a toolkit of handbooks and resources to assist and educate farmers on implementing and maintaining safety.

VFF president Brett Hosking spoke highly of the two projects and the benefits they provide for Victorian farmers of all types.

“Both the Making Our Farms Safer and Stock Sense projects are great ways of engaging everyday farmers with information

and facts that will actually help them in their businesses, their families and their communities to work towards better farming outcomes,” Mr Hosking said. “We’re looking forward to both programs continuing to engage and support our farmers in real and practical ways.”

Warragul boarder Ben Allsop tops the class at Wesley

Build soil health now for a better growing year

Across Australia, growers are facing challenging conditions.

In the south and west, prolonged dry weather is forcing many farmers to rein in fertiliser spending.

In the north and central regions, flooding has created a different set of pressures — nutrient loss, soil structure damage, and recovery costs.

We know these events are key to Australia remaining a world-class producer of food and fibre, and we want that to be recognised at a government level as well.

As this year’s Farm World arrives, farmers across Monash are doing it incredibly tough. Unable to source feed and with rising costs, many drought-stricken farmers have been forced to sell off stock ahead of schedule to get urgently needed cash flow.

That’s why I’ve continued to call for a fairer, better go for farmers by this Government at every chance I get.

Italian Cooking Heritage: Bertazzoni

If a kitchen upgrade is on the cards, the annual String & Salt Home Expo at Farm World 2026 is definitely worth a visit. Featuring this year, will be Bertazzoni’s Heritage Series freestanding cookers… the kind of appliances that are worth seeing in person.

Bertazzoni is an Italian family-owned company that has been building cooking appliances since the early 1900s, when founder Napoleone Bertazzoni was producing wood-burning stoves in the Emilia-Romagna region of northern Italy.

The Heritage Series is a direct nod to that history - the design draws on those original stoves, with rounded chrome knobs, polished metal handles, and classic lines that look at home in a traditional kitchen without feeling out of place in a modern one.

Latrobe Health Services brings free Shane Warne Legacy Health Checks to Farm World

Latrobe Health Services is bringing free Shane Warne Legacy Health Checks to Farm World again this year, giving attendees an opportunity to check in on their cardiometabolic health.

As a Gippsland based, not-for-profit health insurer, Latrobe Health Services is committed to improving health outcomes across regional and rural communities.

Latrobe Health Services CEO Ian Whitehead is encouraging anyone aged 18 and over to take part in the quick, noninvasive screening available at their stand in the Country Living Hub.

“As a member-owned fund, we’re focused on making healthcare more accessible and inclusive,” Mr Whitehead said.

“Take five minutes for you with a free, noninvasive Shane Warne Legacy Health Check.”

The free health checks assess key indicators including blood pressure, body composition, heart rate and diabetes risk using the

AUSDRISK tool.

Alongside the self-serve SiSU Health stations, eligible participants can access clinician-led finger prick blood tests for cholesterol and blood glucose levels.

“Results are provided on the spot,” Mr Whitehead added. “If elevated risks are identified, users are encouraged to follow up with a healthcare professional.”

start and end to your day at Farm World.” Buses will depart Warragul Railway Station near the Goods Shed at 9am on Thursday and Friday, and 8.45am on Saturday. For the return journey, buses will depart Farm World at 3pm on Thursday and Friday, and 3.15pm on Saturday.

Farmers lead the way in Climate‑Smart Agriculture across the region

Across the Port Phillip and Western Port region, farmers are taking practical action to build more resilient and productive farms.

Through Melbourne Water’s ClimateSmart Agriculture project, they are trialling and adopting practices that boost farm productivity while protecting soils, improving biodiversity and supporting overall landscape health.

The program is working with more than 500 farmers to test a wide range of onground approaches that deliver real benefits on paddocks and across the catchment.

On-farm trials include biological fertilisers, multi-species cover crops, Natural Sequence Farming, enhancing farm dams and wetlands and EcoVineyard approaches as well as protecting important endangered species such as Strzelecki Gum.

Each demonstration farm is supported with monitoring so landholders can see the real-world benefits of regenerative practices—whether it’s improved pasture productivity, better soil structure, reducing

emissions as well as less reliance on chemical interventions.

A key strength of the project is its collaborative approach. Farmers, Landcare groups, researchers, and councils are working side-by-side to share knowledge, co-design trials and build local capacity.

Field days, workshops and peer-to-peer learning networks are giving farmers the tools and confidence to adapt to a changing climate while strengthening the region’s food production systems.

This project is a celebration of collaboration across agriculture, Landcare, local government, and community.

At its heart is a simple message: healthy farms mean healthy catchments, resilient communities, and a stronger food bowl for Victoria.

Commander Ag has recently completed another cattle yard system for a valued returning client, the third yard system they have purchased from the company.

Designed to handle 100-head mobs, the layout follows the practical and widely regarded Weenan design.

Known for its simplicity and functionality, it provides excellent drafting options directly out of the central pound, making it ideal for weaning and general cattle management.

The system offers a highly cost-effective solution, removing the need for curved force tubs and large drafting setups at the front of the crush while still maintaining smooth cattle flow and safe stock handling.

The yards feature entry off the existing laneway, a central drafting pound with a six-

way draft, and a cattle force pen leading into a 90-degree curved, non-sheeted race.

A 4.8-metre adjustable loading ramp ensures efficient truck access, while permanent flagstyle panels and gates with overhead bracing provide strength and durability.

Concrete throughout the entire yard system enhances safety, longevity and ease of maintenance. The system is fitted with a Commander Ag CC750 Crush.

After listening to customer’s needs, the new Titan Max series of silage wagons was designed and built for the serious farmer last year.

The new heavy duty 16mm high tensile floor and elevator chains make the wagons even stronger than the renowned Titan Series of silage wagons that many Gippsland farmers know and trust.

They have increased the strength of the bin by using 5mm Bisoly high wearing steel for both the floor and side wear plates.

Other new features include new style tapered mud guards, remote grease lines for easier access to main grease points, an even heavier duty floor drive system and a galvanised cross conveyer frame.

This makes the new Titan Max series of silage wagons offer even greater strength, performance and durability for years to come.

Another great new feature of the Titan Max wagons is the new automatic floor chain adjustment system.

Like with all wagons, the floor chains will stretch over time, but with the new Titan Max series, they are fitted with a unique grease pump system that maintains the constant pressure on the floor chains to keep them at the correct tension.

This automatically maintains the proper floor chain tension and will save a lot of maintenance time and potential breakdowns from wrongly adjusted floor chains.

Fendt 800 Vario: CORE80 engine wins “Diesel of the Year Award 2026

On 23 February 2026, AGCO Power’s CORE80 engine from the Fendt 800 Vario series received the “Diesel of the Year 2026 Award”.

Fendt unveiled the completely redesigned Fendt 800 Vario series in the summer of 2025. The tractor series has also already won two Farm Machine 2026 Awards and a US AE50 Award.

‘The CORE80 engine is the most powerful of the CORE engines produced at AGCO’s engine plant in Linnavuori, Finland,’ says Dr Josef Mayer, Vice President and Managing Director of Research and Development Fendt. ‘In recent years, the results of the independent DLG PowerMix test have demonstrated the impressive efficiency of the Fendt VarioDrive powertrain in our tractors.

This consists of CORE engines and our Fendt Vario transmission 2.0.

The latest results for the Fendt 728 Vario and Fendt 620 Vario show that they combine power with extremely economical fuel consumption.

The Fendt 800 Vario with a CORE80 engine operates smoothly within its main working range of 1,100 to 1,400 rpm.

It reaches its top speed of 60 km/h at only 1,450 rpm.

The top of-the-range Fendt 832 Vario offers maximum torque of 1,680 Nm from as low as 1,200 rpm, ensuring high traction and acceleration with minimal fuel consumption.

In addition, exhaust gas after treatment is carried out via a diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC), a diesel particulate filter (DPF) and selective catalytic reduction (SCR), but not exhaust gas recirculation.

This also makes maintenance easier.

The tractor complies with all globally required emission standards.

In the EU, this is the Stage V (Tier 5 Final) emission standard.

Engines from the CORE family are also installed in the Fendt 700 Vario Gen7.1, Fendt 600 and Fendt 500 Vario series.

CLEAVER Salumi Cabinets: Born in Gippsland

Did you know that CLEAVER Salumi Cabinets was born right here in Gippsland?

Launched in 2016 by founder and owner, Dave Cann, CLEAVER had a straightforward goal: build a meat cabinet to allow Australians to make their own cured meats at home, any time of year.

How the Cabinets Work

Traditional salumi – the Italian term for salted, dried meats like salami, prosciutto, coppa – can be tricky when you need to rely on the climate for the drying. At best, it’s a once a year (winter) activity. At worst, it can end in disaster. CLEAVER solved that problem.

CLEAVER Salumi Cabinets give you the ability to dry age your own meat and make your own salami all year round.

A CLEAVER Salumi Cabinet controls the three things that matter in curing: temperature, humidity, and airflow. With settings between 0°C and 25°C and humidity adjustable from 60% to 90%, CLEAVER owners can set the conditions they need to safely cure meat all year round.

The range runs from The Piglet - an underbench model handling up to 8kg, good for someone having a first crack at salami - up to The Hog, which holds over 70kg and can run eight prosciutto at once. In 2022, CLEAVER released the PLUS collection, the world’s first truly hybrid cabinet capable of dry-ageing meat AND salumi curing in the same unit.

Massey Ferguson 5M Series tractor on display at Farm World

Massey Ferguson has proudly introduced the MF 5M Series, which includes six horsepower options from 95hp up to the new, top 145hp model, with 14 unique variants depending on the cab and transmission type.

“Building on the proven success of the MF 5700, MF 5700 Dyna-4, and MF 6700 Series, the new, dependable and efficient MF 5M Series introduces a range of factory-fitted, performance-enhancing features designed to elevate operation, comfort, and control,” says Samuel Mulkearns, Product Manager, LowMed HP, ANZ.

Cab models will have the option of the well-proven Dyna-4 transmission. Further improving functionality and efficiency, the new electronic architecture offers not only ISOBUS connectivity, but also MF Guide and a range of other smart farming options.

“While still retaining the straightforward, robust design, these modern additions, usually found on higher specification tractors, further advance the versatility, reduce the workload on operators as well as increase field performance and efficiency,” adds Mr Mulkearns.

The affordable all-rounder

The model range is powered by the latest AGCO Power four-cylinder engines. Placing the exhaust in line with the front right-hand cab post, provides superb, all-round visibility.

A 24% larger fuel tank capacity, which now holds 198 litres, is the largest in the sector, allowing for more work between refills to help reduce downtime.

The MF 5M Series also offers the highly efficient Dyna-4 transmission, that provides clutch-free control of 16 forward and 16 reverse speeds with a 40km/h Eco top speed.

Optional AutoDrive offers automatic shifting in Power or Eco modes, along with Braketo-Neutral as standard, which automatically disengages drive when the pedal is pressed, ensuring precision and comfort combined with smoother operation.

An open-centre, 100 litre/min hydraulic system is fitted as standard to the MF 5M Series.

Additionally, the MF 5M Series is particularly efficient for tasks requiring a front loader. It also offers excellent manoeuvrability thanks to the 4.65 m tight turning radius and the choice of mechanical or electrical joystick. Finally, the optional Visio Roof allows perfect visibility and safer handling operations.

Connected for Smart Farming

For optimum control, precision and comfort all MF 5M tractors can come equipped with full MF Guide, including the Fieldstar 5 terminal or as MF Guide ready.

MF Guide provides fully automatic steering and is offered with a Trimble?, or a choice of other receivers that provide a range of positioning accuracies. This will prove especially helpful for vegetable growers.

Fieldstar 5 also provides access to several Massey Ferguson Smart Farming options,

including ISOBUS. At the same time, it can also provide a range of automatic, efficiency enhancing features. These include:

•lMF Section Control to automatically switch up to 96 different sections on/off

• MF Rate Control to automatically vary application rates

• MF Connect telemetry provides near real time data transfer.

Spacious, comfortable cab

The MF 5M Series cab models are equipped with a spacious cab that delivers the right level of comfort and excellent visibility, with an upgraded, optional air conditioning system greatly increasing air flow and distribution around the operator.

This roomy, 1.3m wide operator environment has a completely flat floor and car-style pedals and a large glass area with unrivalled visibility.

Comfort is further improved thanks to a new cab suspension system, an option on all Dyna-4 models, which delivers significantly higher shock absorption.

New, efficient LED worklight options, in addition to the halogen lights, provide even more illumination for safe night work – with a choice of either two LED front and rear worklights, or two mid-mounted units.

Outside is a useful new PTO switch on the rear of the fender on the left-hand side.
