2024 AUSTRALIAN OF THE YEAR FOR TASMANIA

Stephanie Trethewey is the 2024 Australian of the Year for Tasmania. She’s a visionary leader who has transformed personal challenges into a nationwide movement to support rural mothers across Australia.

Stephanie is a seasoned television journalist who has reported and produced for some of the country’s biggest news and current affairs programs. In 2019, soon after having her first child, she swapped the city for the country and moved to rural Tasmania.

The transition was both a brutal and beautiful journey, and Steph’s struggles with postnatal depression and isolation inspired the creation of Motherland, a national charity that supports rural mothers, reducing isolation and improving mental health outcomes for women on the land.

In 2022, Stephanie was named the national winner of the AgriFutures Rural Women’s Award, and in 2023 she celebrated the release of her debut book, Motherland. Stephanie also sits on the Australian Advisory Council of Thankful4Farmers.

Mowing?

That’s

so last season

We all know a great-looking lawn takes time—but what if you could get perfect results without sacrificing your weekends?

My brother Moses and I are here to make that a reality. As a family owned business, we’re bringing the future of lawn care to Farm World 2025 with the best robotic mowers on the market: Husqvarna, Kress, Segway Navimow, and Luba.

These machines don’t just cut grass—they give you back hours to spend on what really matters, whether that’s time with family, hobbies, or just relaxing.

If you’ve got a 500m² backyard, a six-acre property, or even a golf course, we’ve got the perfect robotic solution to keep your lawn looking flawless—without you lifting a finger.

And here’s the best part: no wires, no hassle. Unlike older robotic mowers, these cuttingedge machines use GPS technology and virtual boundaries, meaning no need to bury perimeter wires in the ground.

You simply select your mowing area from an app, and the mower does the rest—smart, simple, and completely autonomous. Robotic mowing is more accessible than ever, with prices starting at $1,899 for a DIY install.

We also offer full commercial spec robots, for large lifestyle properties to golf courses.

Not sure if it’s for you?

No problem—we offer free onsite demonstrations so you can see firsthand how these robots work on your property.

We’re not just selling mowers—we’re shaking up the industry. Ride-ons and zeroturns have had their time, but the future is here, and it’s automated.

If you’re ready to rethink mowing, come find us at Farm World. Let’s talk robots, efficiency, and how you can finally spend less time mowing and more time living.

Are you in? Let us Boost Your Backyard. Elijah – Forest & Garden, Warragul

Founded and based in Gippsland, CLEAVER Salumi Cabinets originally showcased the world’s first domestic salami curing cabinets at Farm World in 2017. Since then, CLEAVER has grown to be one of the most known and trusted brands among amateur salami makers in Australia.

The genius of a CLEAVER Salumi Cabinet is in its simplicity. Traditionally, salami making was confined to the winter months when the conditions are right, but CLEAVER owners can make salami all year round with the confidence that their CLEAVER provides them “winter in a box” – a classy looking box. Specifically designed to control temperature, humidity, airflow and microbial growth, the

CLEAVER cabinets take the guess work out of the drying or curing process when making your own salumi – that is, salami, prosciutto, pancetta, capicola, bresaola and the likes. You set the temperature and the humidity, and the cabinet does the rest.

Come and see the full range of sizes of CLEAVER Salumi Cabinets and meet founder and owner, Dave Cann, at the String & Salt Home Expo in the Lardner Park Event Centre at Farm World 2025.

Dave will be presenting free kransky (11am) and salami making (1pm) demonstrations each day of Farm World inside the String & Salt Home Expo.

Founded in Gippsland, CLEAVER Salumi Cabinets have become the most trusted brand for home salami makers. Meet owner Dave and see his salami making demonstrations at the String & Salt Home Expo in the Lardner Park Event Centre.

Attendees of Victoria’s premier agricultural field day, Farm World at Lardner Park, can get a free Shane Warne Legacy Health Check at the Latrobe Health Services stand 82-83 in the Country Living Hub.

Latrobe Health, a Gippsland based not-forprofit private health insurer, is passionate about improving health in regional and rural communities.

As a member-owned fund, the organisation and its staff focus on inclusivity and accessibility of health care, targeting better health outcomes for all Australians.

Latrobe Health Services’ CEO, Mr Ian Whitehead says, “Gippsland has some of the worst heart health outcomes in Australia, so we are encouraging anyone over the age of 18 years to participate in an easy, non-invasive

Shane Warne Legacy Health Check.

“This initiative is one way we help our members, and community check if they are at risk,” continues Mr Whitehead.

Latrobe Health has been involved in testing more than 200,000 participants, from the early beginnings of the Gippsland Healthy Hearts study, to an ongoing community outreach program and, since 2023, as the founding partner of the Shane Warne Legacy.

The heart health checks are free and will run every day at Farm World at Lardner Park, in the Country Living Hub. No booking is required.

Key heart health indicators checked during the screening include blood pressure, heart rate, body composition, diabetes risk and will give you an estimated heart age.

“Results are provided immediately following the test, with a health professional providing key insights on the results, advice on how to

keep your heart healthy, and informing participants on how to follow up with your GP if further action is required,” Mr Whitehead says.

Coronary heart disease remains the dominant cause of death among Australians with worse outcomes experienced in regional and rural areas.

Latrobe Health Services is hosting an event presented by AFL great, Nathan Buckley in the Events Centre, Lardner Park at Farm World on 29 March at 12pm.

After almost 500 AFL games as a player and coach, Buckley is still leaving his mark off the field.

Buckley will share personal stories and insights on overcoming challenges, managing stress and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. This is a ticketed event; tickets are free for Latrobe Health members and $5 for the public. All proceeds will be donated to charity.

To book your tickets, visit https://www.trybooking.com/CZOUZ. Attendees must also have tickets to Farm World.

A completely new series: Naturally superior. Fendt 600 Vario

With the completely newly developed Fendt 600 Vario series, Fendt, for the first time in the 150-200 hp category, is presenting a compact and manoeuvrable 4-cylinder tractor with high performance and payload at a low power-to-weight ratio.

With four models (Fendt 614 Vario, 616 Vario, 618 Vario and Fendt 620 Vario), the new series occupies the from 149 to 209 hp (110 – 154 kW) power range according to ECE R120.

For the first time, Fendt DynamicPerformance (DP) added-performance concept is available for all models in the 600 series. DP releases up to 15 hp of additional performance on each model via demand-based control exactly when it is needed.

The extra power concept is not tied to driving speed or special operating tasks.

It functions purely dynamically – even when carrying out stationary PTO work or, depending on the operating conditions, during tillage.

Exclusively for Fendt, the completely, newly developed 4-cylinder 5 litre AGCO Power CORE50 engine enters the market with the Fendt 600 Vario series.

The newly developed, single-stage Fendt VarioDrive transmission is made up of the engine and the matching VarioDrive drive train.

For the first time, Fendt VarioDrive combines the four key functions of maximum tractive force, simultaneous ground protection with minimum wear and groundbreaking manoeuvrability.

Dynamic control prevents wheel slip, with maximum traction regardless of the surface.

The drive train eliminates the need for manual switching when changing between field and road operations.

In this way, VarioDrive automatically combines maximum tractive force, high ground protection on any surface without distortion, loss of performance or tyre wear.

All components, such as the engine, transmission, hydraulics and cooling system, were designed according to the so-called “high torque – low engine speed” principle.

In this way, the Fendt 600 Vario achieves high torque even at low engine speeds and saves fuel.

The rated engine speed is only 1,900 rpm. In the main working range, the speed is a quiet 1,350 to 1,800 rpm.

Sets new standards for power-to-weight ratio, manoeuvrability and payload.

With a power-to-weight ratio of just 34.4 kg per hp and compact external dimensions, the Fendt 620 Vario is particularly manoeuvrable and exerts as little pressure as possible on the ground.

A gross vehicle weight of up to 13.5 t allows it to be used as a heavy towing tractor and ensures operational safety during transport.

System architecture that grows with the customer – individual operation with FendtONE

Fendt is committed to keeping tractors up to date for customers.

Further developments can be made through continuous updates of the vehicle’s operating system as well as functional enhancements for machines.

This is exactly what the FendtONE operating system does in the Fendt 600 Vario. FendtONE has an open system architecture that is continuously growing with partners and digital solutions.

In this way, the machine remains efficient, up-to-date and thus maintains a higher residual value.

In FendtONE onboard, the multifunction joystick, a 10” digital dashboard and a 12” terminal on the armrest are standard features.

The optional 3L joystick in FendtONE onboard and another 12” terminal in the headliner complete the scope of equipment.

The proven Fendt VisioPlus cab combines high working safety with the best overview, comfort and ergonomics.

Good visibility is crucial for precise work.

The interplay of three factors provides drivers with optimum visibility.

Long working days place high demands on the driver. For this purpose, food and drink can now be both cooled (0-16°C) and warmed (45-65°C) in a cool and warm box.

Optimal interaction with front loader –New Fendt Cargo and Fendt CargoProfi

In the performance class up to 200 hp, front loader operation represents a core application.

The Fendt 600 Vario is designed for front loader use with the new generation of Fendt Cargo and Fendt CargoProfi front loaders with its full-length panoramic window and high viewing angle.

With a maximum lifting capacity of up to 34.6 kN for the Fendt Cargo 5.90 and an optional position-independent weighing function, the Fendt CargoProfi front loader also moves large loads efficiently to a height of up to 4.50 meters.

The automatic display in the terminal gives notifications for load-dependant maintenance intervals.

Both functions increase the service life of the loader.

The Fendt 600 Vario has separate valves for the front loader. This means that all valves are available at all times at the rear and at the front.

The front loader is operated efficiently via the optional 3L joystick.

Powerful high-performance hydraulics

The overall package of the Fendt 600 Vario also includes the vehicle’s high-performance hydraulics with up to five connections at the rear, up to two at the front and up to three independent connections in the middle. It is characterised by the modular design and up to 205 litres of flow rate.

At Agritechnica 2023, Fendt unveiled the completely newly developed Fendt 600 Vario series to the world, winning both the “Farm Machine 2024” Award in the mid range tractor category as well as the prestigious “Audience choice award”. The accolades have continued to roll in since, more recently winning the compact four-cylinder ‘MidPower Tractor of the Year 2025’ at EIMA in Italy. The multi award winner has now landed on New Zealand shores, ready to tackle the challenges of Kiwi farming and beyond.

Compact in size but powerful in performance, the new 600 Vario is built with the innovation you'd expect from Fendt. At its core is the Fendt VarioDrive transmission for intelligent power delivery, the new AGCO Power CORE50 low-revving engine, and the FendtOne operating system — designed to make long working days more productive and less tiring. In addition, a suite of new options is available, including Variogrip and reversible fan.

Love cooking with gas, or looking to change to induction?

Whether you love cooking with gas or are considering changing to induction, you will find plenty of options at the String & Salt Home Expo in the Lardner Park Event Centre.

Do you like cooking on gas burners? Well, the good news is that gas appliances are not going to disappear anytime soon.

Confusion over recent Victorian Government changes to gas connections for new planning permit applications has led many to believe that these rules will affect people replacing their existing, older appliances with new gas appliances. This is not the case, and you can certainly still purchase quality gas cooktops and dual fuel (gas cooktop/electric oven) cookers to replace or upgrade your old appliances.

At this year’s Farm World, you will find a special feature on gas cooking at the String & Salt Home Expo in the Lardner Park Event Centre.

The annual Home Expo will be showcasing an exceptionally great value range of gas cooktops and cookers from the family owned,

Italian manufacture, Bertazzoni.

With modern style cooktops from $699 and stylish cookers from $3,199 there is sure to be something there for every home and every space.

If you are interested in investigating induction cooking too, the Expo will also feature a diverse collection of induction cooktops (from $1,299) and induction freestanding cookers (from $4,199) including specials and floor stock sales.

The String & Salt Home Expo will be showing an extensive range of kitchen appliances and home heating from brands like Bertazzoni, Falcon, Falmec, CLEAVER Salumi Cabinets, Kemlan, Kamado Joe, Masterbuilt, Speedqueen and more.

Find the String & Salt Home Expo at the heart of Farm World in the Lardner Park Event Centre.

About FARMap

Designed by former beef and sheep farmer turned entrepreneur Sam Baulch, FARMap was launched in 2021 to address a gap in the farm management app market.

Recognizing the importance of highquality farming maps for effective farm management, Sam saw an opportunity to create a straightforward, costeffective solution tailored to family farming operations, particularly in the livestock sector.

Inspired by the growing impact of technology in agriculture, FARMap quickly moved into development in early 2018. “Quality assurance and accurate mapping are challenges for every farmer, so I wanted to offer a more affordable option for familyowned and operated farms,” Sam explained.

Simplicity and affordability are Sam’s primary goals for the app, ensuring that even grandparents find FARMap easy to use.

Customers appreciate the app’s userfriendly interface and the personal touch of receiving one-on-one support instead of dealing with a large agency.

Sam believes FARMap has transformed the way people manage their farms by simplifying the process of recording data and generating reports, with all information conveniently stored in one place.

By continually improving the app based on client feedback, FARMap aims to deliver maximum value to its customers in the future.

Contact Sam 0429 171 685, by email: sam@farmap.com.au or visit the website: farmap.com.au

Sam’s Story Sam Baulch’s farming career began in the mid-1970s when he took over his family’s commercial beef and sheep operation near Hawkesdale, Victoria.

Successfully running the farm until 2004, Sam’s passion for property mapping saw Sam launch his other agribusiness, Australian Mapping in 2009.

Building strong networks across ag communities around Australia and understanding those challenges farmers face every day, Sam took the next step when he successfully launched FARMap in 2021.

You can find Sam regularly travelling the country with both his Australian Mapping and FARMap businesses; on clients’ properties with his drone, attending Ag Field Days, catching up with farmers, and swapping stories of life on the land.

Now based on the Southwest Coast of Victoria with his wife Lyn, Sam says he is proud to have created a very handy and useful tool for the smaller farming operations and supporting technology newcomers with FARMAp at a fraction of the cost of what else is available on the market today.

farmers and working on real solutions to address their challenges. As an independent, Deb is committed to putting the community first and advocating for policies that protect and support agriculture.

Deb Leonard supports the farming industry

Politicians often talk about supporting farmers, but their actions speak differently.

Deb Leonard is no such politician.

Deb has taken the time to sit down with members from all parts of the farming and agriculture industry across Gippsland to discuss with them the challenges they face, and talk through the most appropriate solutions.

From this feedback, Deb Leonard has formed a specific policy to support farming and agriculture in Gippsland. This includes:

• Ensuring the farming community has a voice with all levels of government

• Improving transport corridors and support produce to market

• Addressing biosecurity risks in close consultation with the industry

• Dealing with workforce shortages through greater apprenticeships and education opportunities and housing supply for agricultural workers

For too long, our region has been ignored by the major parties. Deb Leonard is straighttalking, hard-working local who will put our community first.

As an independent, she doesn’t get caught up in party politics. She can work with either side of politics to get results.

We live in one of the most productive food bowls in the country. It is vital we recognise the importance of agriculture to Monash. Deb will fight to protect our farmers.

CLAAS Harvest Centre Product Business Manager – AMAZONE, Murray Tuck, says the upgrades mean the UF series now deliver the same performance, convenience as the company’s range of UX trailed sprayers.

The ContourControl boom guidance system, available on wider booms wider than 27 metres, provides fast and precise boom guidance for optimal application and performance.

The title angle of each boom is controlled by a pre-pressurised hydraulic cylinder equipped with a rapidly-switching valve.

The cylinders for the tilt angle of the two outer ends of the boom are controlled using the same principle.

“This system helps to keep each boom parallel to the ground, reducing any effects caused by uneven terrain or high operating speed,” Steve says.

“Besides preventing contact with the ground, this helps to maintain an optimal distance of about 50 cm between the boom and the target surface, ensuring optimal coverage and reducing the potential for spray drift.

“In addition, UF 02 booms can now fitted with AmaSwitch quad nozzle bodies on 25 cm spacings, which allows the operator to select the right nozzle according to spraying conditions.”

The boom has independently-controlled hydraulics at each pivot point.

“This means each section can be folded independently, allowing the operating width to be adjusted,” Blair says.

“The overload protection within the hydraulic system is simultaneously used as

ContourControl helps to maintain a constant 50 cm distance between the nozzles and the target surface, regardless of terrain.

ContourControl automatically controls boom tilt for optimal performance, even at high operating speeds.

‘break-back’ protection when working at these reduced working widths.

“Alternatively, two sections of the boom can be folded in or out at the same time, significantly reducing set-up time.

The UF 1602 and UF 2002 mounted sprayers are now available with a fullyintegrated 300 L/min hydraulic pump.

“Pump speed is completely independent of the tractor’s engine speed, which is particularly useful when applying crop protection agents in hilly terrain, where the tractor’s engine and PTO speed is constantly changing,” Steve says.

“Maintaining a constant pump speed ensures optimum application results and prevents the pump from overloading.”

UF 02 units are suitable for mounting to any tractor with a minimum hydraulic

flow of 50 L/min and are controlled using the AMAZONE TwinTerminal 3.0 or any ISOBUS compatible terminal in the cabin.

“The operator can select the desired pump speed for filling, agitating or spraying,” he says.

“The pump starts gently and quickly reaches the pre-determined level.

“Pump speed is then regulated automatically, which means maximum suction and agitation is maintained at all times.

“The pump can also be switched off automatically once the nominated fill level has been reached.”

Innovative livestock identification with Enduro Tags

Unlocking the full power of Livestock Tags, pictured is a lovely Brahman with both an NLIS device, and a smaller livestock management ID tag. Although this animal could easily manage a larger tag, this particular farm system went for a minimal option that suited their purposes.

Farmers seeking an improved tagging system are turning to Enduro Tags.

An efficient tagging system begins with the quality of the tags, encompassing material molding, design, and ease of application. Tagging livestock can be arduous, and a user-friendly applicator is essential.

Additionally, tag losses are a signif¬icant concern, as lost tags mean lost identification and the tedious task of re-tagging animals.

Enduro Tags addresses these issues with their innovative designs.

While the double prong tag system offered by Enduro Tags ensures excellent retention and visibility, it may not suit every farmer’s needs.

Traditional button tags have been a staple for decades, but innovation often brings superior alternatives.

John Steinfort at Enduro Tags has developed a new range of single prong tags featuring a unique design.

Steinfort notes, “We proved our technology by providing over 10,000 of our special goat tags to a local Gippsland dairy goat herd, reducing their tag loss from 30% to 0.5% per annum, with no infected ears.

That’s a very significant outcome.”

Steinfort continues, “Our new emerging technology is different.

It’s not another ‘button’ type tag.

We utilize our field-proven plastics, which provide a hard back tag without any catch points.

Now that’s hard to believe, I know.

See how it works with our testing station at the Farm World at Lardner Park”.

Enduro Tags is adapting this technology for all livestock types, with plans to launch these products throughout 2024-25.

The potential benefits for livestock producers are immense. Steinfort adds, “And best of all, these Clip Tags are easier to apply through the ear compared to button tags, making it a sure winner for livestock, producers, Enduro Tags, and the local economy.”

Enduro Tags continues to lead the way in innovative livestock identification, offering solutions that enhance efficiency, reliability, and overall ease of use for farmers.

New McIntosh wagons at Farm World

For the first time at Farm World 2025, TracMac Farm Machinery will display the new range of McIntosh Titan Max series of silage wagons and the all-new Combi Pro series of wagons.

Titan Max Wagons

McIntosh has listened to customer’s needs and the new Titan Max series of silage wagons are built for the serious farmer, and for high use applications.

They feature a new heavy duty 16mm floor and elevator chains making them even stronger than their renowned Titan Series wagons.

McIntosh has also strengthened the bin by using 5mm Bisoly high wearing steel for the floor and side wear plates.

Together with new style tapered mud guards, easier access to main grease points, heavy duty drive systems and galvanised cross conveyer frame, the new Titan Max series of silage wagons offer strength, performance and durability for years to come.

One great new feature of the Titan Max wagons is the new automatic floor chain adjustment system.

Like with all wagons, as the floor chains stretches, the unique grease pump maintains the constant pressure on the floor chains to keep them at the correct tension.

This system makes maintaining the proper floor chain tension a breeze and will save a lot of maintenance time and potential breakdowns from wrongly adjusted floor chains.

Allan Slater from TracMac Farm Equipment said “the new Titan Max series of silage wagons offer significant strength and features over and above all other wagons on the market and are well suited to the needs of many farmers across Australia”.

Combi Pro Wagons

For the first time at Farm World 2025, TracMac Farm Machinery will display the range of the new McIntosh Combi Pro wagons.

These machines are designed to handle a variety of feeding tasks from all types of pit silage, round and large square bale feeding and a variety of other products.

All units feature a large 1500mm wide side elevator with a patented pivot tip that allows you to successfully feed over fence lines or into feed troughs without too much wastage.

This unique elevator design folds up vertically to help minimise the transport width and its heavy duty construction featuring 13,000 lb roller chains, and a more aggressive feeder bar teeth design to help tear those tight bales apart.

An easy to use hydraulic system gives the operator great control over the feeding process and TracMac can option the units with scales so you know exactly how much you are feeding out. These versatile machines are built the McIntosh way with strength, durability and performance in mind.

They feature 5mm Bisoly steel floors, press steel sides and a double chain push bar system that evenly pushes the material into the feed out chamber without the need of a large slot down the middle of the floor.

Heavy duty gearbox drive systems with large diameter drive shafts and greaseable bronze bushes are all designed for long life and durability and with sizes from 14m3 to 21m3 these combi wagons will suit a host of farmers and feeding requirements.

McIntosh Farm Machinery has been building quality products and farm machinery for over 70 years. It’s range of silage wagons, bale feeders, tipping trailers and manure spreaders are built with strength, ease of operation and extended service life in mind.

To find out more information please call in and see the range at the TracMac Farm Machinery – site A30 at Farm World 2025.

Building resilient farms: how sustainability drives profits

For many Australian farmers, balancing sustainability and profitability can be a challenge. Rising costs, climate change, and pressure to adopt environmentally friendly practices often seem at odds with the goal of running a profitable business.

But, with the right tools, these goals can go hand in hand, benefiting both the land and the bottom line.

“We all know that healthy soil, animals, and ecosystems are essential for long-term success,” says Biolink 4 Plants & Animals coowner Kevin Beecroft. “But with increasing pressures from climate change and volatile markets, farmers must manage resources sustainably while staying profitable.

Farming smarter, not harder, is key.”

“Sustainability and profitability should complement each other.

Our microbial-based products enhance soil health, boost yields, and support animal health while reducing input costs.”

Based on in-field trials, farmers using Biolink™ products can reduce fertiliser use by up to 50%, cutting costs without sacrificing yields.

By regenerating soil, improving water retention, and promoting healthier plants, farmers can reduce reliance on chemicals and improve efficiency.

Key benefits of using Biolink™ products include:

• Soil regeneration: Products like Biolink™ Germinator and Bio-Hum enhance soil fertility and water retention.

• Improved animal health: Biolink™ OptiGut probiotics support animal digestion and nutrient uptake, leading to healthier livestock and reduced feed costs.

• Increased efficiency: Farmers see improved productivity, such as lambs ready for market 20 days earlier with less feed.

By embracing sustainable practices, farmers can protect their land, boost productivity, and future-proof their operations.

“Sustainability is not just an environmental goal.

Graham Clay and Kevin Beecroft and their families have worked together to create their company’s Australian-made microbial-based fertilisers and animal probiotics.

Mary Aldred –a strong voice for Monash farmers and agribusiness

Farm World is the best field days event anywhere in Australia. That makes it a highlight of the year for many of us across Monash.

With the exception of just a few, I’ve attended every year since I was 21. Farm World is our event, and we’re proud to share it.

Farm World’s greatest gift is the way we showcase new technology and share farming knowledge.

I’m a strong believer that healthy businesses sustain healthy communities.

There are many small and family owned businesses that put a huge amount of effort into their Farm World exhibits.

They’re also the businesses that are first to put their hand up to sponsor the local footy team, volunteer in our service clubs and give a young person their first shot at a job.

The Farm World team at Lardner Park do a magnificent job and put in countless hours to make this event the envy of every other field days in Australia.

I’m passionate about farming – as a young person I worked on a farm and went on to study agribusiness.

If elected, I’ll be a fierce advocate for our local primary producers and agribusinesses.

As part of a strong Coalition team I’m committed to delivering outcomes locally.

Whether you’re a farmer or work in the broader agribusiness sector in Monashknow that I will always stand up for you.

I’ll be at Farm World for the duration of the event, so please come and say hello, I’d love to have a chat.

Waterway improvement on private properties

In Victoria, rivers and creeks are essential to our way of life. Healthy waterways support farming, recreation, and wildlife across all of Victoria.

Melbourne Water is dedicated to enhancing the health and sustainability of waterways across our region, guided by our shared Healthy Waterways Strategy.

In partnership with government land managers, community groups and landholders, we’ve made amazing progress on restoring waterways across our region. But there are critical areas where we still need to do more, and we need to do it now to protect these landscapes from irreparable long-term decline.

Protecting and improving these priority waterways now will have long term benefits for the health of local ecosystems and our entire Port Phillip and Westernport catchment.

Many priority catchments are in areas where most of the land is privately owned. That means we need to work with landholders to improve waterway conditions – a genuine partnership that can help the productivity of the land as well as the health of the waterways.

That’s why, for a limited time, we are offering increased funding to private land holders and community groups in priority catchment areas to help improve the quality of waterway health today, tomorrow, and for generations to come.

Increased funding opportunities

Melbourne Water partners with the community and businesses through our ‘Liveable Communities, Liveable Waterways’ (LCLW) incentives program.

For a limited time, we are offering increased incentive funding for applicants who are aiming to increase riparian vegetation along waterways on their properties before the end of 2025.

• Fencing along waterways

To protect riparian vegetation and soil health for priority waterways, we can fund up to 100% of costs for new fencing placed at least 20 metres from the top of the waterway bank.

Fencing and revegetation on Muddy Creek, Bravington.

• Weed control Managing invasive weeds can promote natural regeneration and is essential for successful native revegetation. For a limited time, Melbourne Water is offering up to $10,000 for weed control on waterway frontage greater than 300m.

• Revegetation

Where revegetation of riparian areas is appropriate, Melbourne Water can fund up to 100% of the costs of the plants, stakes and guards required, at an average rate of 1 plant per 6 square metres.

Contribute to your catchment

If you’d like to find out if your property is in one of the priority areas eligible for increased funding, find out more about ‘Liveable Communities, Liveable Waterways’ or take advantage of our free property assessment, please contact us via the details below or visit us at Stand 238 at Farm World.
