OUR BEGINNING

100 BLACK MEN OF EASTERN NEW YORK, INC.

After many years of being affiliated with a local chapter of 100 Black Men of America, Inc. a conversation was held, and we came to a conclusion that perhaps a new chapter of the “100” should be developed at this time. We begin conversations with 100 Black Men of America, Inc. to begin to take the necessary steps to seek a new charter membership into the 100 Black Men of America, Inc.

On October 3rd, 2021 the initial founders of the 100 Black Men of Eastern New York, Inc which was comprised of Phil Andrews, President, John Nedd, Secretary, and Desmond Horsham-Braithwaite, treasurer met to begin taking steps to incorporate the 100 Black Men of Eastern New York, Inc. as a 501 c 3 tax-exempt organization.

Hofstra Law Clinic under the Michael L. Haber with students assigned to the Hostra’s Law Clinic assisted with our us with our chapter’s formation along with students at the Law Clinic. The 100 Black Men of Eastern New York, Inc. was incorporated on December 27th, 2021 in the State of New York.

Our chapter completed the chapter interest application, and submitted our implementing plan to 100 Black Men of America, Inc. in November of 2022. The Board of Directors approved of 100 Black Men voted to approve 100 Black Men of Eastern New York, Inc. as a charter chapter on Wednesday, December 7th, 2022 with all rights and privileges.

Friday December 9th through December 12th, 2022 we attended the Black Men of America, Inc.’s leadership and delegates meeting in Atlanta, GA.

Our chapter’s attendees included Hon. William B. Wise, Member, and Phil Andrews, Founding President of the 100 Black Men of Eastern New York, Inc. On Friday December 9th, 2020 they attended the reception at the Marriott Marquis in men of America, Inc. Leadership Conference which was held at the Marriott Marquis in Downtown, Atlanta.

On December 10th, 2022 Hon. William B. Wise Member, and Founding President Phil Andrews attended the delegates assembly on December 10th, 2022 and the 100 Black Men of Eastern New York, Inc. They were sworn in by Chairman Thomas W. Dortch, Jr. and were presented with the Certificate of Charter Membership and welcomed formally as a new chapter of 100 Black Men of America with all rights and privileges.

On December 15th, 2022 Long Island Business News published a major news announcement in Long Island Business News written by Adina Genn wrote titled “100 Black Men grants Charter to New York Group.”
