Long before they became Medal of Honor recipients, they were neighbors, parents, and friends—ordinary people whose choices in extraordinary moments changed history. At the National Medal of Honor Museum, their stories come to life. Come discover the humanity behind the heroism.
Of the 40 million Americans who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces since the Civil War, fewer than 4,000 have been awarded the Medal of Honor, the nation’s most distinguished recognition for valor. Recipients represent every branch of the military, every battle since the Civil War, every state, and every generation since 1863. They come from all walks of life, united by sacrifice, selflessness, and service.
“This Museum isn’t just about honoring history—it’s about inspiring the future,” says Chris Cassidy, president and CEO of the National Medal of Honor Museum Foundation. “It shows us that anyone—and all of us—can rise above and beyond in the service of others.”
Located near AT&T Stadium and Globe Life Field, this one-of-a-kind experience is far more than a museum: it’s a celebration of the human spirit. Explore the Museum’s immersive exhibits and awe-inspiring architecture, and discover how these extraordinary lives can inspire your own.

Texas Live! is steps away from Globe Life Field, AT&T Stadium, and Choctaw Stadium.
IN ARLINGTON, GAME DAY IS A WAY OF LIFE. THIS SPORTS-LOVING CITY WELCOMES FANS FROM ACROSS THE GLOBE TO EXPERIENCE HEARTPOUNDING ACTION AT SOME OF AMERICA’S MOST SPECTACULAR VENUES.
19,000 tons of steel were used to build Globe Life Field’s retractable roof. That’s enough to build a little more than two Eiffel Towers.
The 5.5-acre retractable roof opens in just 12 minutes.
The Texas Rangers played their first home game at Globe Life Field in 2020 after 25 years at Globe Life Park (now known as Choctaw Stadium).
The Rangers won their first-ever World Series in 2023
Step into Globe Life Field and you’ll immediately understand why it’s revolutionizing the baseball experience. The Rangers’ 1.8 million-square-foot home combines the charm of classic ballparks with cutting-edge innovation. Sunlight streams through massive glass panels, while the retractable roof ensures perfect conditions year-round.
The park’s intimate design puts every one of its 40,300 seats close to the action, so you hear the crack of the bat and feel the crowd’s energy surge with every pitch.
Families love Globe Life Field’s Kids Zone, which features a free wiffle ballpark and a playground with oversized baseball equipment designed for climbing. And for all those mini sluggers, kids 13 and under are invited to run the bases after every regular season Sunday afternoon home game.
AT&T Stadium isn’t just a sports venue—it’s a monument to football glory. The moment you enter the home of the Dallas Cowboys, you know you’ve entered into a different kind of stadium, whether that’s because of the soaring, retractable ceiling or the massive four-sided main video board, which is equivalent to more than 3,200 52-inch TVs and holds the Guinness World Record for the world’s largest high-definition
video display. Every seat offers stellar views, from the field-level boxes to the upper levels, where you can appreciate the full scope of this architectural marvel.
If spectacular sightlines and entertainment weren’t enough, AT&T Stadium also offers topnotch food and beverage options. In fact, almost everything sold from concessions is made from scratch.
Beyond football, the stadium doubles as a contemporary art gallery, featuring more than 90 different artworks (turn to page 30 for more). On non-game days, the venue transforms for everything from monster truck rallies to concerts to championship boxing.
This large complex is a unique combination of sports venue, dining hall, and event center, transforming your average game viewing into an immersive experience.
Watch the big game on a 100-foot LED screen at Shift4 Arena, or catch a match while playing everything from skeeball and shuffleboard to old-school arcade games and virtual golf simulators at the two-story Sports & Social Arlington. CHOCTAW STADIUM: A New Chapter
Once Rangers territory, Choctaw Stadium (formerly Globe Life Park) now hosts an exciting mix of sports in its storied confines. The United Football League’s Arlington Renegades bring spring football action, while North Texas Soccer Club continues the stadium’s tradition of thrilling professional matches. Plus, high school football teams get some major field time in the fall, and the stadium has previously hosted a variety of events, including MLB All-Star Week’s Playball Park and All-Star Village.
THE FUTURE IS BRIGHT: 2026 and Beyond Arlington’s sporting legacy continues to grow as two major events head to town. The 2026 FIFA World Cup brings nine matches to AT&T Stadium, including a semifinal match!
And March 2026 brings the inaugural IndyCar Grand Prix of Arlington, where race cars speed around a 2.73-mile street circuit through the Entertainment District, including past Globe Life Field and AT&T Stadium.
Don’t miss BoomerJack’s signature cocktails or happy hour specials alongside a Jack’s Sampler—mozzarella bites, egg rolls, and wings.
AT&T Stadium offers room for 80,000 spectators but can expand to accommodate 100,000 people
The Dallas Cowboys have won five Super Bowls
The Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders (aka America’s Sweethearts) learn roughly 50 dance routines during a seven-week training camp.
The stadium is so tall that the Statue of Liberty can fit inside (including the base!).
There are more 300 suites and more than 3,000 LCD displays throughout concourse and concessions areas.
AT&T Stadium $1.2 billion to build, making it one of the most expensive sports venues built in the early aughts.
The Texas Rangers have called Arlington home since 1972. Opened in 2020, Globe Life Field is the home of the Rangers, the 2023 World Series Champions. Whether you’re attending one of the team’s 81 regular season home games or enjoying a tour of the retractable-roofed ballpark, you’ll experience comfort all year long—no matter the weather outside. In addition to climate control, you’ll find Texas hospitality in the form of regional food and refreshments, works from local artists, rocking chairs on the left field porch, friendly staff, and much more. What began as a childhood chore turned into a lifelong passion that has put Prince Lebanese Grill on the map in a big way. (Thanks, Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives!)
The grill’s claim to fame? Irresistible spicy chicken shawarma and crispy fried cauliflower. You’ll find people ordering it without even glancing at the menu—in fact, roughly 35% of customers order this popular entree. Prefer it milder? You can customize the spice level to suit your taste.
The eatery is centered around food, family, hospitality, and culture, and Kobty and his sister, Elizabeth, have made giving back a cornerstone of their business.
“We’re big on education and community, and those are the ways we carry on the culture of the restaurant,” Kobty says. “We’re giving to people who gave to us.” And it’s clear the community loves him for it.
Chef’s Recs
This Arlington native has his fun off the job, too. He’s a regular at Grounds and Gold Co. for its killer coffee. When he’s got a barbecue hankering, he heads straight to Smoke’N Ash. And if he’s not grabbing a bite at the locally loved J. Gilligan’s Bar & Grill, Kobty is hitting the greens at Texas Rangers Golf Club (p. 23) or catching a game at Texas Live! (p. 18).
The most important meal of the day demands nothing less than extraordinary.
CAFFEINE FIX
At Kung Fu Tea, try the signature Kung Fu Milk Tea, made with Earl Grey tea, sugar, and milk powder, for a satisfying pick-meup. Blast off to boba at Rocketbelly, Texas’ first and only self-serve bubble tea bar. The only thing better than Grounds and Gold Co.’s lattes is knowing you’re supporting a great cause (the “Heart of Gold” initiative raises funds to combat childhood cancers). And Savor Coffee Bar and Eatery does not disappoint with rich choices like the White Thunder Breve latte.
BRUNCH TIME
Restaurant506 has been featured as a “Top 100 Brunch Spot” in the country
by OpenTable thanks to creative dishes like apricot-stuffed French toast and Creole biscuits and gravy. Enjoy Frenchinspired icons and crafted cocktails at Lac Bleu Brunch Cafe. At Breakfast Brothers, brunchgoers flock to the red velvet waffles.
CARBS, PLEASE! Marquez Bakery & Tortilla Factory serves up authentic Mexican food, while Anakaren Bakery offers polvorónes (Spanish shortbread cookies) and hearty fajita gorditas. Kenner’s Kolache Bakery bakes its Czech-style kolache fresh daily and is a lighter alternative to typical breakfast bites. And you can’t go wrong with a la Madeleine croissant.
At Taipo - Behind the Door, authentic Nepali cuisine intersects with cool vibes.
NEPAL NATIVES Rachel Puri and Riza Rawal, the dynamic duo behind Taipo - Behind the Door, are shaking up Arlington’s dining scene with their fresh take on Nepali cuisine. The best friends turned their dreams into reality after opening Taipo, a cozy, Tiffany blue-inspired restaurant that serves up crowd-pleasing Nepali bites, in early 2024. The fun continues at the speakeasy-style Behind the Door, where you’re transported to a hidden space filled with hand-carved Nepali art. At Taipo, the menu is a love letter to Nepal’s diverse flavors. The signature momos (think dumplings, but better) and taipos (colossal, savory, deep-fried dumplings) are fan favorites
Meanwhile at Behind the Door, cocktail enthusiasts must experience the Darjeeling Chai, a nod to the world-renowned tea leaves from a charming town on the Nepal-India border. A
delicious combination of Kahlúa coffee liqueur and Tito’s vodka, the drink is topped with whipped cream and dusted with cinnamon to create one fiery (flames included) showstopper.
NEED SOME WEEKEND INSPO? THE TAIPO TEAM IS ALL ABOUT MIXING IT UP.
For a meal you’ll be forever craving: Order smoky meats and cobbler from Hurtado Barbecue
For unwinding with a great cocktail: After Taipo closes for the night, everyone heads to Texas Live! . Puri and Rawal also recommend sipping craft cocktails on Live! by Loews’ outdoor patio when the weather’s nice, or ordering drinks at
Asian Eats
EXPLORE TWO ASIAN FOOD MARKETS.
Cafe Americana alongside the lively atmosphere and Spanish influences.
For a fun spot off the beaten path: Taipo bartenders love holes-in-the-wall like Caves Lounge and Milo’s Bar
First up, Asia Times Square hosts a plethora of food vendors. Meccha Matcha has matcha lattes for every taste and caffeine level, while Mochinut and Beard Papa offer sweet treats— nutella mochi doughnut or vanilla custard cream puff, anyone? For something savory, the “All You Can Eat” barbecue platter at Omi Korean Grill & Bar is a must! And it’s all about Thai and Cambodian at Apsara. Warm up at Sakari with the tonkotsu ramen, or head to Pokesaur for the anythingbut-ordinary onigiri (rice balls). And walking into Hong Kong Bakery and not ordering a fresh steamed bun is nearly impossible. Next, there’s Ben Thanh Plaza, an Asian supermarket that not only carries specialty Pan-Asian ingredients but also has several places to eat. Try everything from Filipino dishes to Lao cuisine to classic dim sum, all in one place.
This Michelin-recommended barbecue spot is one of those places where you can truly taste the love and culture in each dish. Dive into a bit of everything: rib tips, Awaze brisket, beefy collard greens, berbere mac and cheese, and spicy red lentils. See the next page for more on this tasty spot.
EAT LIKE A TEXAN WITH THE BEST BARBECUE IN TOWN.
David’s Barbecue
But Wait, There’s More
Spanning four generations and 110-plus years, David’s brings a nostalgic vibe with historic decor, friendly service, and crave-worthy ’cue. Try a turkey, brisket, or sausage sandwich, complete with free ice cream for a sweet finale.
Halo Hawaiian BBQ & Poke Bar
Barbecue, but make it islandinspired. The macaroni salad will take you straight to the tropics, and the juicy beef short ribs, marinated in house barbecue sauce, are totally Texan-approved.
This Texas Monthly “Top 50” joint specializes in slow-smoked Central Texas-style barbecue with a Tex-Mex twist. From pop-ups to three brickand-mortar locations, Brandon and Hannah Hurtado’s passion for the pit has made them one of Texas’ fastestgrowing, independently owned barbecue brands—even landing them a permanent spot on the concourse at Globe Life Field.
Barbecue, sausages, and beer— what else does one need in life? Located inside Texas Live!, this joint serves up heaping portions of smoked meats on butcher paper. Check out the menu of weekly specials online to time your visit with your favorite eats.
M’Jays House of Smoke
Run, don’t walk to the loaded barbecue baked potato. Or, bring the smoke to your squad with the Dallas Cowboys platter (serves eight to 10 fans), loaded with all the meats, sides, and breads your heart desires.

Arlington’s first Michelin-recognized spot marries Texas barbecue with Ethiopian spice.
FASICKA HICKS, the powerhouse behind Smoke’N Ash BBQ (alongside husband and native Texan Patrick), is cooking up something Arlington’s never seen before: a bold fusion of Texas barbecue and Ethiopian soul food that’s landed the restaurant a coveted spot on the 2024 Michelin Recommended list and named Hicks a James Beard Award semifinalist.
“I mean, all we do is cook food and just make sure everybody’s happy to enjoy it,” Hicks says, reflecting on the honor. “So it was amazing being included [with] such an award and recognition. It was something beyond our expectations.”
Pretty epic for someone who moved from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia to Arlington at the age of 22, planning to hit the books but instead falling in love with the city’s vibe and its food scene.
At Smoke’N Ash, the Tex-Ethiopian platter steals the spotlight, fusing tender smoked meats with vibrant Ethiopian spices. Choose from either beef and pork or beef and lamb, as well as a selection of Ethiopian-style and barbecue sides. Hicks’ favorite menu item to make, though, is doro wat, a spiced chicken stew that takes her back to her childhood.
In Ethiopia, it’s customary for girls to learn the art of cooking at an early age, and Hicks’ mother ensured she perfected this dish before she was even 15. As the only Ethiopian restaurant in the county, Smoke’N Ash offers a unique experience that’s hard to find elsewhere.
Chef’s Recs
When Hicks is not in the kitchen, she’s out exploring her city. Craving a refreshing margarita and birria tacos? She’s heading to Papaya Mexican Grill. Looking for a local spot bringing major seafood game? Big Ez Seafood & Oyster is her go-to. The last best meal she had? Newcomer Anchor Bar, where she swears by the wings. And when she’s off-duty, Hicks loves hitting up the Arlington Highlands for food, shopping, movies, and more.

J. GILLIGAN’S BAR & GRILL
