TEXAS
National Medal of Honor Museum
Long before they became Medal of Honor Recipients, they were neighbors, parents, students, and friends—ordinary people who took extraordinary action in the service of others. At the National Medal of Honor Museum in Arlington, their true stories come to life through powerful exhibits that inspire courage, character, and connection. Through immersive galleries and experiences, interactive Recipient interviews, and a gripping virtual reality Huey helicopter rescue mission, you’ll walk through history and witness just how much you have in common with those who have protected our nation. Steps from AT&T Stadium and Globe Life Field, this one-of-a-kind destination isn’t just a museum—it’s a celebration of the human spirit, and an unforgettable part of any visit to North Texas. mohmuseum.org | Ge @mohmuseum

Here are some of the notable Recipients you can learn about while exploring the National Medal of Honor Museum:
Roy Benavidez endured 37 life-threatening wounds while saving eight of his fellow soldiers during the Vietnam War.
Kyle Carpenter jumped on a grenade to save his teammate in Afghanistan. He then went on to run marathons, earn a college degree, and inspire millions with his “You Are Worth It” message.
Eugene Fluckey inspired his crew to destroy 17 enemy ships—and one 16-car train—during World War II. He commanded it all from a submarine and didn’t lose a single man.

Cafe Americana
Cafe Americana is the brainchild of Moose Benhamacht and Liesl Best, who wanted to bring their love of food and beverages from around the world to the DFW community. This innovative international restaurant and craft cocktail bar is in the heart of Downtown Arlington, just minutes from AT&T Stadium and Globe Life Field. Step inside and be transported to another world with soothing music, vibrant colors, and an impressive collection of exotic plants and striking art. Around the World in Arlington
EXPLORE
THE FLAVORS, SIGHTS, AND SOUNDS OF THE WORLD—ALL IN ONE UNFORGETTABLE NEIGHBORHOOD.
By Monica Wallis

IF YOU’VE EVER WISHED you could taste your way around the world without hopping on a plane, Arlington’s International Corridor is your ticket. Stretching along East Pioneer Parkway between Center Street and the Grand Prairie city line, this colorful corridor is home to more than 1,100 small businesses— each with its own story, flavor, and cultural flair.
“We’ve got Downtown and

the Entertainment District, but the International Corridor gives people a reason to stay one more night,” says community advocate Linda Dipert, who calls the area the next big thing for Arlington.
Start your journey at Ben Thanh Plaza, named for Ho Chi Minh City’s famous central market and founded by longtime entrepreneur and Vietnam native David Dang. The plaza brims with authentic goods, imported groceries, and restaurants representing nearly every corner of the globe.
“We have Latin, Chinese, Vietnamese, Thai, and soon Korean and Middle Eastern restaurants. You might say we have a little bit of everything,” Dang says.
The area also hosts annual festivals that draw thousands.
“Every year we hold two big events: Lunar New Year and my anniversary with Ben Thanh Plaza,” says Dang. “Hopefully when our new proposed building is finished, we’ll have outdoor entertainment, a food truck area, and more room for the community to gather.”
Of course, no trip is complete without sampling the local favorites. Dipert
recommends PTT (Pham Thi Truoc Restaurant) for steaming bowls of pho, Ba Le Vietnamese for its crave-worthy sandwiches, and Taqueria La Original for Mexican food you “definitely don’t get at our regular onthe-border kind of spots,” like homemade mango and horchata popsicles and undeniably good Mexican street corn.
Beyond the eats, visitors can explore international markets, bakeries, and boutiques, all framed by “Welcome” banners in multiple languages.
“When I visit other places, I want to learn about the culture. I want to meet the people. I want to eat and I want to shop,” Dipert shares.
“That’s exactly what this corridor offers.”

AMPLIFYING ARLINGTON

Kiara Mullins and Crash Through the Floor keep the city’s music scene buzzing. BY MONICA
WALLIS
BORN AND RAISED in Arlington, Texas, singer-songwriter Kiara Mullins found her rhythm early, thanks to her guitarist father and lessons at The Guitar Studio. Though losing her instructor, owner Brian Lacy, nearly silenced her, music became her way of
honoring her late mentor and expressing her voice. Today, Mullins channels that emotion as the powerhouse frontwoman of Crash Through the Floor, a dynamic altpop-rock band she describes as “where Paramore meets Fleetwood Mac.”
Once you find the community—or it finds you—Arlington becomes the best place to grow as a musician. There’s so much heart here.

Growl Records Record shop featuring brews from the adjoining Division Brewing
Known for their energetic performances and heartfelt lyrics, Crash Through the Floor blends punchy guitar riffs and anthemic choruses with raw emotion, crafting songs that explore the highs and lows of the human experience.
Arlington, Mullins says, is the perfect backdrop for that creativity. Through programs like Arlington Amplified, she’s found a community that champions local talent. The band’s breakout moment came at Light Up Arlington 2024 while performing on the Levitt Pavilion stage, a milestone that solidified their place in the city’s thriving live music scene.
“Once you find the community—or it finds you—Arlington becomes the best place to grow as a musician,” she says. “There’s so much heart here.”
For Mullins and her bandmates, collaboration, catharsis, and connection are at the core of every song.
After earning a music business degree from Belmont University in Nashville, Mullins returned home to reconnect with her roots— and her bandmates Jacob Barton, James Dolloff, Bre Hardin, and Jared Berg.
“Music is the greatest connector we have as humans,” she shares. “If someone listens to our music and feels seen, that’s the real success.”

A MONUMENT TO COURAGE
The National Medal of Honor Museum honors the country’s bravest through storytelling, breathtaking design, and a mission to inspire courage in all.
OPENED IN MARCH 2025, the National Medal of Honor Museum is Arlington’s newest landmark—a 101,000-squarefoot architectural marvel designed by Rafael Viñoly to honor the fewer than 4,000 Americans who have received the nation’s highest military award for valor.
Immersive Galleries
More than 31,000 square feet of exhibits tell the real stories of ordinary Americans who performed extraordinary acts of valor.

Symbolic Design
Supported by five soaring columns—each honoring a branch of the U.S. military—the National Medal of Honor Museum appears to float, a striking architectural tribute to the courage that lifts up all.

The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza
The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza in downtown Dallas chronicles the life, legacy, and assassination of President John F. Kennedy. Located within the former Texas School Book Depository building in downtown Dallas, visitors experience history where it happened. The permanent exhibition, John F. Kennedy and the Memory of a Nation, uses historic films, photographs, artifacts, and eyewitness accounts to provide a deeper understanding of this pivotal moment in America as well as the broader culture of the 1960s, and shows how this history continues to shape the world. Rotating exhibitions highlight rarely displayed artifacts from the Museum’s robust collections.

WHERE CHEF BENHAMACHT GOES WHEN NOT IN THE KITCHEN
Best Middle Eastern food: Beirut Grill. Super authentic food; never had a bad meal there.
Fun night out: Any of the corporate restaurant brands part of Loews Hotels, like Cut & Bourbon or Farena
Casual hangout: I’m a big dive bar guy, so Caves Lounge for sure.
Fresh ingredients: Green’s Produce and Plants. They’ve been around for 30 to 40 years, and have a lot of high-quality stuff and niche-crafted things.

What inspired Cafe Americana, and why Arlington?
I’d worked [in Arlington] for years as the executive chef for Loews Hotels and saw Arlington was ready for something bold. The city has a mix of locals, travelers, and food lovers; it just needed a creative restaurant to match that spirit.
How do you want guests to feel when they walk in?
From the outside, [the restaurant is] discreet, tucked away in an industrial alley on purpose. We wanted guests to walk in and instantly feel transported. Between the music, design, food, and friendly staff, it’s like stepping into a friend’s stylish backyard: warm, welcoming, but still classy.
What can diners expect at your new concept?
We’re really excited. It’s an upscale American-style eatery with a focus on steak, braised meats, Gulf seafood, and a little bit of an Italian element, with cheese and charcuterie. It’s an homage to old Americana.
What excites you most about being part of the city’s growing food culture?
It’s the energy—there’s so much happening right now. I love seeing places like Smoke’N Ash BBQ bringing traditional Ethiopian flavors into the Texas barbecue scene—it’s such a creative blend of cultures. Arlington’s palate is ready. People here appreciate complex, global flavors, and there’s still so much opportunity for growth in the upscale dining space.

What drew you to tiki culture, and why did you bring it to Arlington?
I grew up in California in the ’60s and ’70s, where tiki bars were everywhere. Years later, after rediscovering one in Vegas, I realized Arlington didn’t have anything like it. It was refreshing … I had forgotten how fun escapism was, to feel like you’re in an exotic place. I went to UTA for college and wanted to give my city its own little slice of paradise.
