Funds raised from 2025 ticket sales will support eight charities across the county
Revesby Country Fair, a much-loved family event celebrating rural life and the countryside, is supporting Lincolnshire communities by donating proceeds from the 2025 show to various charities.
A total of eight charities have benefited from the funds, which were raised through sales from both trade stands and general public tickets.
Charities benefitting include care providers such as The Butterfly Hospice Trust and St Andrew’s Hospice, alongside animal charities including Radcliffe Donkey Sanctuary and Nunny’s Farm. They are joined by Lincolnshire Rural Support Network (LRSN), Haven Domestic Abuse Service, Curo Social Enterprise CIC and Lincolnshire Emergency Blood Bikes.
Organisers are now hard at work preparing for this year’s Revesby Country Fair, which will take place at Revesby Park on Sunday 2nd August 2026.

Countryside Lincs marked its 10th anniversary on Sunday 19th April with its biggest and most vibrant event to date, welcoming record-breaking crowds to a sun-soaked day of family fun, hands-on activities and countryside entertainment.
Nearly 8,000 visitors enjoyed a glorious spring day, with warm sunshine and clear blue skies creating the perfect backdrop for exploring the Showground, meeting the animals and making long-lasting memories outdoors. The bright conditions helped fuel a lively atmosphere from the moment the gates opened.
This milestone year introduced several new features that quickly became crowd favourites. The brand-new Crazy Golf Course proved a hit for families, offering a playful challenge for all ages. There were also new acts performing in the rings, such as the Dart Polo Academy, showcasing this fast-paced equestrian sport, as well as a stunning Shire Horse display honouring the breed’s traditional heritage.
In addition, the event welcomed a new, oneday British Show Jumping show over in the Equine Rings, which was well received by both competitors and the general public, who watched from the viewing hedges of the Iconic Bembridge Avenue.
These new attractions sat alongside returning crowd-pleasers such as the Hawkeye Falconry Display and the Riding for Disabled, both of which attracted packed audiences throughout the day.
There were plenty of new faces to meet, from baby Highland cows at Rand Farm to snakes and exotic creatures in the EXO Centre with Matt’s Mini Beasts. Sensory and musical sessions from Caterpillar Music added even more variety for younger visitors.
There truly was something for everyone, whether it was a coffee for parents or a spot of lunch in the catering area, featuring favourites like Cheesy Pig, Fleurs Kitchen and many more.
This year saw record attendance, which highlights the event’s growing popularity and importance
to families across Lincolnshire. The turnout and enthusiasm highlighted just how much the community values this unique celebration of rural life.

Grimsby Fishing Heritage Centre has once again achieved an ‘impressive overall score’, according to the latest report from VisitEngland.
The independent assessor awards scores to visitor attractions that participate in their Visitor Attractions Quality Scheme and assesses all areas of a visit, including pre-arrival, arrival, the attraction, cleanliness, toilets, catering, retail and the staff.
For Grimsby Fishing Heritage Centre, the latest visit was a great success. The highest scoring areas were in the staff, cleanliness and attraction areas with the staff themselves scoring a perfect 100%.
This high score means it has also been nominated for the prestigious Welcome Accolade, awarded to attractions that go the extra mile for their visitors. Winners of the award will be announced later this year.
The assessor noted several highlights to the visit, top of these being the tour of the historic trawler, Ross Tiger. She said: “It was a superb tour, delivered by an engaging and knowledgeable guide who clearly brought the experience to life with passion and personality.”
She added: “The main attraction was an engaging exhibition with a variety of displays, where each new room offered a fresh surprise and kept the experience interesting throughout.”
In summary, she said: “Overall, Grimsby Fishing Heritage Centre continues to offer an engaging, accessible and enjoyable day out for families and visitors of all ages, with a clear focus on both heritage and learning while providing a strong sense of place and connection to Grimsby’s fishing industry.”
The report also provides recommendations for all areas assessed that support the attraction to maintain the positive experience going forward.
Operations Manager, David Ornsby, said, “The VisitEngland Assessment service is a very valuable tool to us at the museum. The team, along with wider colleagues at NELC, work hard in all areas to make the centre the very best it can be.
“An independent viewpoint with the knowledge and experience of VisitEngland allows us to pick up things that we have missed or to confirm the things that we hope to be doing right. To receive such a high score and to have such wonderful praise of the staff is a boost to us all.”
The countdown is on to the 141st Lincolnshire Show, one of the county’s largest and most anticipated events, promising two action-packed days of entertainment with brand-new features and returning favourites.
Hosted by the Lincolnshire Agricultural Society (LAS), a registered charity dedicated to educating the public on food, farming and the countryside, this year’s Show will take
place at the Lincolnshire Showground on 17th and 18th June.
The annual celebration of country life showcases the best of Lincolnshire, with around 2,500 animals on display, 500 exhibitors and a programme of must-see events that range from educational activities and arts and crafts, to extreme sports and feats of strength.
Among the new attractions for 2026 is a thrilling Dart Chukka Polo Display, delivering fast-paced action and sporting spectacle to crowds. Visitors will be able to experience the skill, speed and precision of the riders and ponies up close in this mesmerising Main Ring performance.
Also appearing this year is the Squibb Freestyle FMX Show, which is set to be an audience favourite with high-energy
motocross stunts and impressive aerial tricks.
Fond favourites such as Hawkeye Falconry, the Shetland Pony Grand National and the Shire Horse of the Year Qualifier will return, as well as the popular Lincolnshire Kitchen - which will be hosted by celebrity chef Rachel Green, showcasing local produce and culinary talent.
Back by popular demand is the Lincolnshire Show Beach, which will provide a seaside escape at the heart of the Showground, giving visitors the chance to unwind, play and soak up the summer atmosphere.
With Lincolnshire home to more than 4,500 farms, the Show remains true to its roots with a strong focus on farming and country life. All funds raised through ticket sales are invested in the LAS’ charity work, including the LAS Education Programme, and are reinvested in producing the Show each year.

The iconic Lincolnshire Show is a family-friendly day out that draws over 62,000 visitors every year - including 6,000 school children. The 2026 event also marks an exciting new chapter for the Lincolnshire Show, with the appointment of James Matthews as Show Director, who will oversee the event and support its continued growth.
Advanced tickets can be bought for this year’s Show and are available now, priced at £28 for adults, £10 for children (under 3s are free) and £70 for a family (two adults and up to three children). Visitors are encouraged to book in advance to reduce waiting times on the day and secure advanced ticket prices.

We were fortunate to be given the opportunity to visit The Barnsdale, set on the edge of Rutland Water, and it proved to be a truly memorable countryside escape. From the moment of arrival, what stands out most is the warm welcome. Every member of staff encountered throughout the stay was friendly, attentive and genuinely engaging, creating an atmosphere that felt both relaxed and refined.
The hotel itself is full of old world charm. Original features sit comfortably alongside stylish interiors, giving the property a distinctive personality. Our room was beautifully presented, with one standout feature being the copper bathtub, which provided a luxurious and rather memorable experience.
The setting makes it an ideal base for exploring the surrounding area, with nearby highlights including Barnsdale Gardens, Burghley House and Belvoir Castle, all within easy reach.
One of the most enjoyable moments came early in the stay, relaxing in the courtyard with a complimentary glass of Riesling,
soaking up the late afternoon sun. It set the tone perfectly for the evening ahead.
Dinner in the 1760 Brasserie was a highlight. Starting with a Negroni and a classic gin and tonic, we shared the pink peppercorn baby calamari, a light and flavourful introduction. Starters of seared Scottish scallops and crispy confit duck with burnt orange salad were beautifully presented and full of flavour. The standout main course was the grilled sea bream, a dish that was impossible to resist and certainly lived up to expectations, paired perfectly with a chilled Sauvignon Blanc.
Dessert continued the high standard, with a rich chocolate fondant and a traditional
treacle tart. These were complemented by an espresso martini and a glass of Sauternes, before finishing the evening with a complimentary glass of Madeira in the lounge bar, a thoughtful touch that rounded off the experience.
After a restful night’s sleep, breakfast delivered exactly what was needed. A traditional full English, freshly prepared, provided the perfect start to the day ahead.
The Barnsdale is more than just a hotel. It is an experience shaped by its setting, its food and, most importantly, its people.

In 2017, Sheeraz Janjua, the owner and senior optometrist at John Flynn Optician, Beeston, Nottingham, attained a Doctor of Optometry degree. In the early months of 2025, he continued his academic studies by completing his MSc in Clinical Optometry at Cardiff University.
At a ceremony held in Westminster Hall, London, on 18th November 2025, Dr Janjua was formally inducted Fellow of the College of Optometrists. The honour recognises achievements in the workplace and is awarded for outstanding and significant contributions to furthering excellence in the practice of Optometry. Dr Janjua had demonstrated to the College how his accomplishments, including examination successes, have not only benefitted his practice but have also advanced the profession of Optometry.
The citation for Dr Janua’s Fellowship said, “Sheeraz exemplifies clinical excellence, academic achievement, and entrepreneurial innovation in Optometry. His enduring commitment to a patient-centred practice, lifelong learning, and community-focused innovation embodies the highest standards of the College of Optometrists Fellowship”.

May is a busy and exciting month at Humber Bridge Garden Centre, with the site in full seasonal swing. The plant areas are at their best, the events calendar is filling up, and there are plenty of reasons for visitors to spend a full day on site.
One of the key highlights this month is our David Austin Roses. Buds are now forming, ready for a season of vibrant colour ahead. These English roses are bred for their fragrance, beauty, and elegance, making a lasting impact in any garden. Whether you’re an experienced gardener or simply looking for inspiration, the rose displays on site are a standout part of any visit.
Also continuing to be a popular stop is Humber Raw, offering a wide range of natural pet foods, toys, and treats. This adds another layer to the garden centre experience and is especially popular with regular visitors bringing the whole family along, pets included.
Another major update for May is the launch of a new menu in our restaurant. The refreshed menu brings a wider choice of meals and seasonal dishes, designed to
suit both quick visits and longer stays. It’s part of the wider visitor experience, giving guests the option to relax and refuel during their visit. Whether stopping in for breakfast, lunch, or a coffee break, the updated offering is designed to make the restaurant a stronger part of the day out. Events are also a big focus throughout May, as preparation begins for two major calendar highlights.
Starting strong is the Bridge Side Car Show, a full site takeover event taking place on 11th July at Humber Bridge Garden Centre. The show will feature jaw-dropping displays of high-performance vehicles, with custom finishes showcased across the grounds. Entry is £15.00 per person, with under-13s free, making it a great day out for both enthusiasts and families. The event transforms the site for the day and
brings a lively, high-energy atmosphere from start to finish.
Later in the season comes the Steam and Tractor Rally, another large-scale event running for two days on 25th and 26th July that celebrates rural heritage and machinery. Entry is £6 per person, with under-16s free. Alongside the steam engines, tractors, and vintage vehicles, the event also features falconry displays, bouncy castles, food stalls, and family activities spread across the site. It’s designed as a full day out with something for all ages.
