On April 7th, 2022 Walters & Hogsett Jewelers had the pleasure of hosting the Mafia. Petunia Mafia, that is. Petunia Mafia is an all-women's cycling group founded by Patty Nilsen.

With over 400 members, the Mafia is based in Boulder, Colorado with participants across metro Denver, the High Country, and even in multiple states. Their members are women who want to get motivated and inspired to achieve their cycling dreams through camaraderie, riding and/or racing, and miles of smiles.

We love supporting organizations in our community that make Boulder a better place for us all. With their infectious energy and enthusiasm, it has been a pleasure to collaborate with Petunia Mafia, and more. One of our favorite parts of this partnership is that we get to put on these awesome events (thanks Emily)! We can't wait for the year ahead. fuse

Diamonds are Forever Diamonds help tell our history and mark moments in time.

They are gifts from the earth; billions of year's in the making.

Natural diamonds only form in the “diamond stability zone”, 80 to 120 miles deep and extremely hot (up to 2,200 degrees Fahrenheit), where the conditions are just right. Then, over eons of violent volcanic eruptions, diamonds get brought to the surface embedded in large chunks of rock. Natural diamonds take between 1 and 3.3 billion years to form.

This is one reason why natural diamonds have been valued and admired — they’re artifacts from before the dawn of the human race!

Differences in size, color and clarity of natural diamonds are caused by trace minerals and other conditions that influence a diamond as it grows.

For example, the vivid yellow hue in fancy yellow diamonds is caused by trace amounts of nitrogen mixed within the carbon structure.

The newest lab-created diamonds share similar chemical and physical properties as natural diamonds. They are created when pure carbon undergoes super high temperatures. Lab-grown diamonds are created with a high-temperature process in factories over 6 to 10 weeks.

However, because of the contrasting conditions of natural and lab-grown formation, labgrown diamonds display several features which allow them to be distinguished from natural diamonds in the independent laboratories. fuse

In the last few years we've seen all of these characteristics applied in casual, everyday jewelry. One of our most popular brands, Sethi Couture, does it all. Jewelry Travel Tips

Carry it on Never put jewelry in a checked bag. Instead, wear it or carry it on. To be extra cautious, you can slip a pendant inside your shirt or turn rings around so you only see the band is facing outwards.

Decide what stays at home No matter where you're traveling, or for how long, you should assess whether or not the trip you're taking will be safe for certain pieces, or not. Don't bring anything you'd be worried about losing.

Consider a travel band Depending on where you're going, and what activities you plan on participating in, you may want to consider wearing just a band or engagement ring that is of less value than your real one.

The Art of the Estate Case When walking through the streets of our beautiful home of Boulder, CO, it’s fun to see the newest styles taking the stage as we head into the summer months.
