Walloon, a Kidd Family Tradition Since 1918 Many Wallooner’s like to reminisce with me about how the lake has changed over the years. Sure it has a few more homes and a few more people, but has this special place we long to return to really changed that much? Recently I came across a unique perspective. I discovered an old home movie of my family at Walloon in 1932. It features my father, Jack Kidd Sr. as a little boy and four additional generations of family members and guests. The black and white images are fantastic! They show the same shimmering waters and rolling hills that we see today. It also shows a family along with their friends enjoying a quiet corner of the lake just as we do today. You know the saying, “the more things change, the more they stay the same”? Well, I think it’s true. Families and friends are still enjoying their own traditions of Walloon in their quiet corner of the lake. If anything, life is better.
