Welcome to Wallace State Community College, and thank you for supporting Wallace State athletics!
We have a long and storied history of excelling at athletics and we are exceedingly proud of all our teams - with nine national championships, numerous conference championships, and national team and individual honors among them. Our scholar-athletes go on to successful careers, whether they plan to enter the workforce, transfer to a university, or go professional.
Your support is so important to our college and to our teams. We look forward to having you on campus this semester to watch these talented athletes compete, and we hope you will return again and again to take advantage of the many opportunities Wallace State offers.

MEET THE COACHES
Interim Head Coach Lauren Stewart
Lauren Stewart enters her first season as the Lion’s head coach. Prior to joining the Wallace State Softball program, Stewart served as the head coach at (6A) Spanish Fort High School. Her high school coaching career consisted of a 119-45-2 record along with two 6A AHSAA state tournament appearances (2019, 2021). Stewart was named Coastal Coach of the Year in 2019.
Before her coaching career began, Stewart competed collegiately at Southern Union State Community College, taking home the 2014 ACCC Championship and finishing fourth in the NJCAA D1 National Tournament (St. George, UT). After her junior college tenure, Stewart competed at DII Spring Hill College (Mobile, AL) where she was a part of two undefeated SIAC seasons (2015-2016). After playing collegiately, Stewart was professionally drafted as the 68th overall pick in the American Softball Association’s inaugural season and won the organizations first championship with team OutKast (2018).
Stewart is native to Clanton, AL and graduated from Chilton County High School in 2012.
Assistant Coach Slade Stewart
Coach Slade Stewart enters his first year assisting the Lions. He has a long history of coaching, where he started at East Limestone in Athens, AL over 20 years ago. He went on to coach at Sparkman High School before pursuing travel softball full-time. As the hitting coach at Sparkman, Stewart led his offense to set the national and homerun record with 60 homeruns in a single season. He also runs a nationally known travel softball organization in north Alabama, the Alabama Sparks Elite. Throughout his 25 years of coaching, he has won several state and county championships at the middle and high school levels. He has also seen tremendous success with the Alabama Sparks Elite, finishing in the top 5 at PGF and winning the Colorado Sparkler. Stewart bases his coaching philosophy on four core values: accountability, loyalty, selflessness, and discipline. He also emphasizes the importance of trusting the process and learning fundamentals at a young age.
