Wallace State is pleased to be part of the American Association of Community Colleges Pathways Project, which is funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

The Pathways Project involves a rethinking and redesign of the student experience from enrollment through completion.

As a student at Wallace State, you will be encouraged to choose a broad pathway from one of four metamajors - Liberal Arts/General Studies, Applied Technologies, STEM (Science, Technology, Engi-

neering, and Math), or Health Science — at the outset of your college career. The coursework you take early in your degree plan will be applicable to any major within the Pathway.

POULTRY SCIENCE 2+2 Alabama’s most profitable agricultural industry is the focus of a partnership between Auburn University and Wallace State Community College in Hanceville.

The partnership is designed to open more career doors in a part of the state where much of the poultry industry is concentrated.

There is a long list of career options for those entering life and physical science careers, whether the aim is to work in medicine, space, conservation, geology, hydrology, meteorology, biochemistry, physics, genetics, and more.

Wallace State offers a strong foundation in the sciences that students can carry with them as they work to obtain their bachelor’s, master’s, and even their doctorate degrees. A number of Wallace State alumni have moved on to be doctors, scientists, and meteorologists.

Wallace State partnered with HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology to form a Bioinformatics Research Opportunities club, which has led to a number of students earning internships at the Huntsville laboratory.
