GO EASY ON THE ANTIBACTERIALS We’re all being extra fastidious about frequently washing our hands or using alcohol-based sanitizers when we can’t. But on a daily basis, most of us do not need to use antibacterial soaps. While they are appropriate for people with compromised immune systems, healthcare professionals have long warmed about the risk of bacterial resistance from overuse of consumer antibacterial products. And if a property is on a septic system, overloading the tank with antibacterial products can actually kill the beneficial bacteria in the tank that do the dirty work of breaking down the waste.
