I grew up going to concerts and music festivals. I love listening to music. Loud.

I probably wasn’t the ideal neighbour in years past – but I think I made the right move living in communities where there were likeminded neighbours. In fact, in one place I regularly popped next door for impromptu dance breaks.

I guess if you’re enjoying it, and it works for you and your neighbours, then it’s fine – but this isn’t the

norm. Residents are guaranteed a reasonable level of enjoyment of their home, and nobody’s need to listen to loud music supersedes that.

WESTMOUNT is a classic older neighbourhood that knows how to roll with urban trends. The residential streets are quiet while 124th Street keeps up an urban buzz. It’s bordered by the busy arteries of 111th avenue, Stony Plain and Groat Road located northwest of downtown.

Residents are drawn by the neighbourhood’s timeless character and peacefulness. Having 124th Street run right through the neighbourhood draws neighbours together as they sit on sidewalk patios, line up at the bakery and browse boutique shops.

It’s a trendy crowd.

Heritage homes within Westmount give it its charm. The hip boutiques,

independent restaurants, and galleries allows for a thriving urban culture, without actually having to live downtown. The area is very walkable, neighbours are friendly, there’s plenty to do or plenty to not-to-do if you’re in the mood for relaxing.

The biggest draw is the 124th Street strip. Local restaurants, shops, and art galleries have made it so popular that it’s even considered its own neighbourhood. The Telus World of Science is also nearby and the river valley and its trail system are accessible in the southern parts of the community. The historic Westmount School, among others, is right in the neighbourhood.
