Not only that but a professional photographer captured the moment as I passed by and our Samba school’s parade came first that year (that’s me with the brown hair looking at the camera).

K UM A M OTO, JAPAN One of my most memorable travel memories is of our visit to Takachiho Gorge in Japan’s Kumamoto region.

In the photo we are the couple in the bottom boat with me pointing at the waterfall. Absolutely stunning, not to mention we visited this region after the earthquakes and it was a real eye opener.

It was an experience I won’t forget and I would love to head back to South Africa one day.

T R OLLT U N GA , N OR WAY One of my travel memories is doing the long Trolltunga Hike in Norway. After 12- 13 kms we finally made it to the Troll’s tongue and had our chance, after lining up for a long time, to jump up and enjoy the view from this scenic spot. It was an enjoyable 24km hike.

P E RT H , WA Driving from Perth to Ningaloo Reef, and back again.

Not only did we have an incredible experience swimming with the whale sharks, the surrounding area is beautiful. The photo is of Cape National Park. It’s a really spectacular place, full of gorges and rocky ranges.

We camped over night there and it was the best night sky I have ever seen! We have done a lot of road trips around Australia but this was one of the best!
