Wellbeing Check-In Book ENTRIES FROM THE PARRAMATTA SQUARE COMMUNITY

Earlier this month, our tenants have shared ways to check-in and connect with each other to lend support to those who are struggling with life. Take inspiration from this e-book and start a conversation with a friend, colleague or family member today to help them through difficult times.

Take them on a walk By Emeline I would start the conversation off with a calm approach and ask if they would like to go for a walk to have a talk about life outside of work. I would then offer to take them to lunch after and just offer support wherever needed.

Support them By Heather If they’re feeling stressed I will start a simple conversation to see whether they want to talk about what is going on. If not, I’ll ask whether there is anything I could do to alleviate their workload, suggest taking a day off to relax, or shout them a coffee.

“We can’t change people, but we can plant seeds that may one day bloom in them.” – Max Muller

Buy them a nice lunch By Tanika My colleague has recently been stressed about meeting their KPIs for the upcoming month. Their birthday is also coming up in a few weeks. I would like to show them support by buying them their favourite lunch, and sitting down with them to provide some friendly encouragement and empathy.

Create a comfortable environment By Joshua

r e n in

Visit my colleague at a cafe or local park in the morning, ask them about the responsibilities they have and where due and undue stress may come from in their day to day life. Focus on unpacking points related to undue stress as this factor is potentially harmful mentally and physically. I would like to create a comfortable, open environment to explore solutions and ideas for easing undue stress factors, helping them become the best version of themselves.

Invite them for a cuppa By Charmaine When I notice a colleague has frequently been working late on Teams, I’ll approach them at the office and invite them out for a cuppa at Threefold Pastry in Parramatta Square. The short stroll away from our desks, paired with fabulous coffee and delicious buttery pastry always puts people at ease!

Get out of the office By Feras The way I would start the conversation, would be to ask them to go for a walk so we can move away from the work environment and go to a neutral place so we can have a proper conversation. This way they can be heard without any interruptions or fear of being overheard or judged. This way, I believe they can open up freely if they are not okay.
