Crime Stoppers Holds Successful Food Drive

The funding source for these requests would be the American Rescue Plan funds that the County has already received.
By Wade Thibodeaux The Walker County Commissioners Court met in regular session on Monday, November 22, 2021 at 9:00 am in room 104 of the Walker County Courthouse. One of the items on the agenda was a workshop dealing with the funds that the County has received due to the American Rescue Plan. The American Rescue
Plan is Federal funding that has been allocated to Walker County. Over $14 Million has been allocated, but only $7 Million is actually in the bank and that is what the Court was focusing on during the recent workshop. The Court worked through several different scenarios but eventually settled on items of need for the Sheriff’s and EMS de-
partments for the most part. A new ambulance was discussed, as well as items for patient care and then things for the jail as well as the patrol division were part of the conversation. Priority was given to one time purchases as opposed to items that would have recurring annual expenses. The Court was in agreement for (contd on page 9)
