By Wade Thibodeaux The Walker County Commissioners Court met in regular session on Monday, April 25, 2022 at 9:00 am. in room 104 of the Walker County Courthouse. This group is normally a pretty consistent unanimous vote on the agenda items, but the last two or three sessions of the court have seen multiple 3-2 votes. On a previous court agenda, the vote was 3-2 against the new subdivision regulations with the Judge casting the prevailing dissenting vote. my Henry and Commissioner Bill Daugette for the implementation of a road use agreement for overweight trucks. Commissioners Danny Kuykendall and Ronnie White voted against the agreement, claiming it would be difficult to enforce. A follow up agenda item yielded the same results with the same votes being cast the same way for requiring a surety performance bond for trucks. In other action, the court approved a couple of resolutions with one being for the recognition of April 24May 1, 2022 as Soil and Water Stewardship Week and

the other in recognition of May 5, 2022 as the National Day of Prayer. As usual, the Planning and Development Department portion of the agenda was rather lengthy, indicating that plenty of growth and activity is occuring in Walker County. Several public hearings dealing with re-plats of lots in various subdivisions were held during court as well as request for variances to different regulations throughout the County. The next regular session of the Walker County Commissioners Court will be Monday, May 9, 2022 at 9:00 am. in room 104 of the Walker County Courthouse.
