Hornets Just Can’t Seem to Catch a Break This Season

This summer the older Scouts of Troop 114 took a trip to the Philmont Scout Ranch in Cimarron, NM. Older Scouts are those who are 14 and older and have at least attained the First Class Rank. A total of 8 Scouts and 5 Adults left on July 1, 2021 and returned to Huntsville
on July 13, 2021. There were 2 Crews for a trek which allowed them to hike about 65 miles. Even though it rained 10 out of the 11 days on the trail, the scouts didn’t allow the rain to slow them down. They were able to complete almost all of (contd on page 9)

Friday evening in Bowers Stadium and just when things looked like they might be turning for the Hornets, some more bad luck seemed to find its way to the team. The Hornets were down 30-33 to the Mustangs, but they had the Pony’s pinned deep in their own territory and a punt forthcoming with about 3:30 left to play in the game. Master Gardeners Hold Fall Plant Sale
People were checking in at the Walker County Master Gardeners Sale last Saturday. By Wade Thibodeaux The weather was absolutely perfect last Saturday, October 9, 2021 and the Walker County Master Gardeners hosted over 300 plant buyers during
their Fall Plant Sale at their facilities behind the Walker County Extension Office on Highway 75 North. Some people came prepared with a wagon to load their plants into and
other had to carry them out sometimes one at a time if it was a large plant like a young tree or on cardboard flats for some of the smaller plants, but most people that were
seen leaving had some sort of plant with them on their way to their car. Some people purchased Fall vegetable plants while others (Contd on page 9)
