Former Walker County EMS Director Arrested By Wade Thibodeaux The former Walker County EMS Director John Nabors was arrested last Friday evening, July 30, 2021 on counts of fraud to obtain drugs and abuse of office. Nabors retired last April from Walker County with many years of service and an audit of the EMS department exposed the alleged
crimes. According to the complaint filed by the Texas Rangers, there were 52 boxes (520 vials) of Ketamine that were purchased during the time period of 02-05-2019 to 03-20-2021 and those narcotics were never stocked and or logged into the Walker County EMS inventory. Nabors was entrusted with the power to
order prescriptions for Walker County EMS for use on the ambulances. Nabors was issued a Walker County credit card to pay for the prescriptions. Nabors made 45 of the 52 purchases with his non County issued personal credit card during the aforementioned time frame. During a search on July 18, 2021 of a home
that Nabors was the last occupant of(the home is now vacant), a box was located that contained 73 empty vials of Ketamine with markings that indicated that they were purchased from the pharmacy in Walker County EMS’s name. Nabors posted bond and was released from custody.
