Huntsville City Council Hornets Buzz the Lions 49-14 Sworn Into Office

Huntsville City Council members sworn into office recently are left to right, Dee Howard Mullins, Vicki McKenzie, Pat Graham, and Bert Lyle. By Wade Thibodeaux The Huntsville City Council met in regular session on Tuesday, November 17, 2020 and the new and returning City Council members were sworn into office. Bert Lyle and Vicki McKenzie were elected as unopposed on the ballot. Mr. Lyle
was previously appointed and Ms. McKenzie signed up to run and did not draw an opponent. Pat Graham challenged incumbent Mari Montgomery and was victorious, while incumbent Dee Howard Mullins successfully defended her position against challenger Jeff Bradley.
The Council also re-appointed Council member Joe P. Rodriquez as Mayor Pro Tem. The Council approved the consent agenda which included contracts for insurance, construction, and change orders for bond projects. (contd on page 11)
By Wade Thibodeaux The Huntsville Hornets traveled to Madisonville on Friday, November 20, 2020 to their home away from home for the last two out of three games of the District schedule and took on the Lake Creek Lions for a 49-14 victory. The Hornets came out a little slow as they only
produced 7 points in the first quarter, but held the Lions scoreless for a 7-0 lead. The second quarter saw each team score a touchdown to make the score 14-7 at the halftime break. The Hornets blew it wide open in the third quarter as they crossed the goal line 4 times to take a 42-7 lead going into
the final frame. Each team once again scored a touchdown apiece in the fourth quarter to arrive at the final score of 49-14. Coach Southern commented after the game that maybe the Hornets were a little off in their timing coming off of the bye week, but (contd on page 7)
